Well, almost everytime I get on ESF, during the night, I always have enourmous ping. When I got on today, it was at 150 in the lowest latency server. It's been going on since about January. I don't know what the problem is, but I hope someone can help me out. Thanks.

Check your rates, if you have cable or dsl, try using rate 25000, cl_cmdrate 100, cl_updaterate 100. Problem could be your internet too.

It's most likely an issue with your connection. You either have your Steam settings too high or too low for it, thus causing lag.

Type the following into the console, write down the current value, and then reply:

cl_updaterate
rate
cl_cmdrate
cl_interp

Also, what is your connection?

Im 99% sure its a steam problem, ive had it the same too, ive met many others with it too, all say they've scanned for spyware, all said they've messed with their rates and other console commands, its always the same.

Well, I haven't changed any of my rates or anything. Everything is the same as I had it before when my ping was fine. Hey Davidskiwan, is there anyway this problem can/will be fixed?

It could be packetloss caused by other backdoor programs like spyware.

Other than that.. You got a brother or sister who shares connections?
