Hey ok.

This is the deal. We got an HD ready screen on the living room.

We aren't using it's HD, not cable HD, nothing.

We got a DVD but it is not HD (we bought it in around 2001)

I noticed there are some DVDs coming with a HDMI input.

What I want to ask is what that HDMI input will give me(quality wise, will show in 720P or won't change anything, etc... ANYTHING you got!) if im not putting 720P movies in that DVD?

As well as I wanted to ask if there are any normal DVD players that can display HD movies that aren't using blu-ray(EXPENSIVE) nor DVD HD technology.

And what will HDMI upscaling will give me?

BTW my current DVD is plugged in the LCD TV in RCA, even if it is in RCA, it still upscales to native resolution of the LCD screen?

Thanks! important

What you are looking for is a Progressive Scan DVD player. It will display movies in 480p, and it is the maximum resolution of DVD movies, without using something that upscales lower format resolutions, like a PS3.

HDMI, at that resolution, offers no improvements over DVI and questionable improvements over Component Cable.

I found a DVD player that upscales to 720P and it has an HDMI plug.

Will the upscaling improve the picture?(not only a bit...)

I have a Sony "cinema" DVD player that outputs to 1080i. It doesn't look good when it upscales to 1080. Actually it looks a lot better when it's not upscaled (480p).

If you own a PS3 or a 360, use that as a DVD player.
