How to use them ?When i gathered them all in one place and pushed "B"-nothing happens

Make sure you put them together in 1 place, (there are 7 balls) when they are glowing. Then press the USE button which default button is B. If it is not your default button, then i recommend you should take a look at your control menu to see to what key the use button has been assigned to.

how close they should be?

As close as possible. If you managed to get all 7 balls, and yet they are not glowing. Try to put them closer together.
