Does Video gaming affect the learning skills of young Kids?

Nowadays most of the young Kids play various types of Video games/ also Internet games; Does it affect their spelling, reading/ and learning Skills? Kindly post your replies based on your experience/ from researched publications.

What does affect their learning skills is the forced expansion of their needs for school such as forced to learn Spanish in 2nd Grade and Geometry in 4th.

Actually games, mostly online, increase learning abilities, spelling and reading.

Back when I first played Lord of the Rings Online, I was receiving help from someone that was slow but clear in typing with some minor grammar and spelling errors. It turned out after a while his dad came over to me and explained that was his 4 year old son helping me out. I was baffled from his reading and "writing" skills, and the fact he can play his character without assistance. I didn't find out till after I joined his guild.

The fact that they decided it was more of a need then Recess was.
