I don't think people forget. The Democratic Congress' approval rating was lower than Bush which says a lot. Personally, I think we should have term limits for Congress, it's asinine that we don't.
I completely agree, we need some new blood in the congress.

As far as Socialism, its already here cupcake. He refused to take back TARP money, and wants to switch from preffered stock in all of the nations banks to common stock.
I think the man is more of a communist than a socialist.

I don't keep up with politics really, but I think he's doing a pretty good job so far. The only thing I've heard he hasn't really done is take care of the economy, but I think that's going to take awhile anyway. I mean I voted for him, I don't think I would have if I didn't believe he could fix the country.

BTW Rik, love the sig.

Socialism is the complete anthesis to what we are used to here in the United States. It goes against the very core principals of what this country was founded on. When you make money here, it is yours, not the governments. Socialism puts money in control of the government, people I don't trust to run a fishbowl. Why then would I trust them with the most powerful free market economy on earth?

I could completely see why someone would not like Obama. I could see why someone could not like either candidates. But if someone actually think he is going to destroy this country, then I think that's a bit much.

It think he is what America needs and that he'll do just fine. I found out about the "extended school year" thing from this thread, and at first I was like "**** THAT", but considering how other countries have it, I kind of softened up. 20 more school days is ****ing a ****ing month though. That leaves only July being the completely free month for most schools. I say we improve school conditions rather that extend it.

And I always thought that "volunteer" service bit was optional to get scholarships for college. I admire Obama for trying to whip the nation straight, but lets not take it too far.

Fox News s acting ridiculous though. The way they, and other conservatives, try to attack Obama makes them look silly, which kind of bolsters Obama's image for me. When it comes time to actually criticize him, the public may just shrug it off as another sore-loser GOP attack.

Oh, and the Daily Show did a funny segment on Sweden and socialism, parodying how people are dead scared of the idea of any socialist ideals.

Well, there's that Pain, but I'm also not liking his whole "Forced volunteerism" plan. That, and that he wants to increase the length of the school year.
Would help you guys not grow up to think India was in Australia tbh, and help you avoid having your life's goal of being Coffeemaker of the Month at Starbucks. You kids could do with a little more edumacation. And in all fairness, hey, there's always the next presidential election a few years from now; feel free to run a campaign and nominate yourselves for presidency. When you're the leader of a country or nation, you'll always make decisions that some people will be unhappy about; no-one will ever be 100% happy with decisions, especially in a time like this, where there is an economic crisis. However, right now, as Skiwan said, he's helping improve the image of the US right now, even if it means it will hurt the country a bit. And so far, I'd say he's doing very well, especially after seeing the recent Cuba stuff. Dunno how it's been with other presidents, but he's one of the few that hasn't grown up with everything handed to him. He's fought leg and limb to be where he is right now, and if any candidate understood what those without political power or power (i.e., you guys) go through, it's him.

He shoudnt get envolved with sarkozy and company. I actually believed much more in him before he started to come to Europe so many times...I hate Sarkozy, Durão Barroso and etc, they are definatly the most capitalist guys around and Obama has been wasting much time meeting with them.

Anything's better than Bush.
I disagree completely. And for the record, the fact that Obama is trying to hold charges against Bush is Treason in my book. Big deal, we poured hot water on people. Do people NOT remember how our POW's were treated? I'd rather have hot water poured on my head than go through the **** they went through.

I think if you and I had a one-on-one talk, we would have nothing to argue about. I give you mad props cuc.

I gotta disagree with two points.

Personally, i think Fox News is hitting it directly on the head of the nail here. Glenn Beck especially. He's the only one i have faith in so far.

And with Obama destroying our country? I cant place full blame on him. It goes deeper than ONE president destroying our nation. But i DO believe that we will see the collapse of the whole social infrastructure of our nation within the next 3 years. Not to sound pessimistic either, but i also see a civil war brewing.

What kind of crazy world do republicans live in, where they can gladly prosecute a president for a blow job and not for torture?

As for the whole social fabric of society breaking down, I look forward to you being wrong.

Treason? You mean like outing a CIA agent? That kind of treason?

So because our POW's were treated poorly, we should torture our prisoners? Really, I know Fox Propoganda likes to downplay anything republican, but do you have no concept of what water boarding is?

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LPubUCJv58[/ame]

As for all the other Fox talking point in this thread, yea Obama took a bow, yea he shook some guys hand. But hey, did you know his wife also touched the queen, and he didn't have a flag pin during the campaign! Oh, oh, what about him only being a community organizer, or his crazy pastor! Don't forget the terrorist fist bump.

Why is it that you people think these things matter in the slightest, but comitting war crimes, among the Bush administrations many other failings, is no big deal.

The doomsayers who worry about Obama scare me more. There is a a big difference between "Obama is giving the government too much power" and "Obama is going to enslave the USA"

http://obrag.org/?p=6151

A man killed 3 police officers because he thought Obama had a gun ban brewing up. It's this kind of baseless fear that is much more scary than "socialist tendencies" to me. Obviously not all anti-Obama people are like this, but I have heard very similar fears, just without the actual killing.
