i hear people saying they dl things at 100kbs per sec on a DSL connection. i have a DSL connection and i only DL things at like 15-20kb per sec??? is there something wrong with my config or are they just talking about the connection speed????

Sorry if this shouldn't be in this area

Well, American DSL is typically 768kbits, or 1500kbits.

768kbits downloads at 96KB/s, which is about your 100.

1500kbits downloads at about 187.5KB/s.

american DSL is good as.
down here in austraila as far as i know 256k DSL is suposed to be like hella good. Whoa.

American DSL is kinda below average in developed countries.

Both Sweden and Japan offer DSL speeds in the 10,000+ range, that's download AND upload.

American DSL is usually 768 down, 368 upload,

And 1500/768kbit, if you're lucky.

you know comcast claims to have a 3000k DL speed now... and yet I can only get 400kb at the most D:

Um.. they claim to have a 3000kbitconnection.

400KB/s is 3200kbits, you're getting MORE then they promise!

Be happy! That's an incredible speed!

Nope, since they clearly state in the commercial they have doubled their* speed, which is actually impossible curently.

Um, not really. Comcast switched from 1500kbits standard to 3000kbits standard. It's hardly "impossible," because, you know.. they did.

DSL can't have different upload and download speeds :S that's ADSL

look at a picture of my speed :D :lol:
