game is pimp, dante is a badass, and i love Nero as a character (especially when you click about his arm etc....)

try to leave this spoiler free for now as i haven't finished the game yet, but discuss anyway.

This game looks simply amazing, although, I don't see myself playing it anytime soon.

Would I need to play the first 3 to get the fourth, like whats going on in it? Or can I play it and still have fun?

Devil May Cry 4 takes place in between DMC 1 and 2.

Yes, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if I'd be able to still have fun and get a general idea what's going on if I just pick up and play the 4th. I've never touched the first, second, or third.

Yes you will. It'll only establish Dante's Legendary status anyway.

And yeah, got it on release day - it ****ing rocks. It's no DMC3, but it's almost as good. I love Nero as well, and the one thing that makes me love the game even more is that right from the beginning, is that you just know that Dante is just plain better than Nero. Every cutscene with Dante (as well as his gameplay actually o_O) establishes that, and I love it.

Quality game. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to play Bloody Palace.

It depends if you actually care about the storyline, I completed DMC 2 and I enjoyed it and I knew nothing about the storyline.

If you are worried about getting lost as opposed to where the storyline is heading, you can either play through all of the previous games, or read up on Wikipedia about the storyline of each game.

Well, if you finish 4 you unlock History of DMC, which is basicly a 5-minute summary of the series' storyline.

Oh and Gryph.. enjoyed DMC2? That's impossible. DMC2 doesn't exist. It's like Leisure Suit Larry 4. It's a myth, no such thing as DMC2.

I watched my freind play it a bit on his PS3, and I was throroughly engrossed. I have played every one from the beginning, and this one looks sweet.

No, it's not, because if you aren't joking, Devil May Cry II exists.

i'm with Gryph, i enjoyed DMC2, despite how ****ty Lucia was...

but this game is friggin insane, i've just got to the third mission with Dante, and it's surprising how different the gameplay styles are between Nero and him.

the question is though, who's son is he? Dante's or Vergils?

What is there to explain?

Devil May Cry 2 is a game, that's the end.

He wasn't literally saying "Devil May Cry 2" isn't a game. He just really didn't like it, so he is joking when he says "it doesn't exist".

I kinda hated DMC 1 and 2, but I loved 3. I rather enjoyed DMC 4's demo too. Using the Devil Bringer on that fire boss was a lot of fun. :3

I might pick it up, but I'm still swamped with other games to play. ;x

Is the voice acting still the worst I've ever heard?
