To do that you have to use sprites (images without background). But again ... Imagine if whole server is shooting the ground it would be full of cracks and it would look pretty stupid. I don't even know anymore i think this destruction is not that necessary. Except if developers think about something that would be balanced and wouldn't ruin the game

You can set the maximum when making servers, or you can just join a server with fewer people. But I think the limit for Half-Life is 16, but for playability most servers will be a lot less?

No, limit is 32 players. I doubt if ESF Final can handle 32 players without lag.

Well if you're talking about realism about characters : what realism would be if there's 32 players trying to kill each other ? If about the cracking sprites or destruction then you're right , but there would be more lag... I prefer performance over those cracks or destruction...
