Don't laugh at this being my third help topic in 3 days... This has been a problem for me for weeks, and I'm tired of it. I visited a bad site which had some weird self-executing scripts embe-d-ed (Forums block the word for some reason, don't mind those dashes), and this is the result:

That wallpaper is locked, and I cannot change it from the settings page. Anybody got any ideas as to how it can be unlocked?

First, no offence. Do you even HAVE anti-virus / anti-spyware software? Its not really safe to go on the internet without any kind of protection. I recommend you downloading some programs to deal with this problem. You could try HijackThis to look for some odd things on your computer and remove it:

Just remember, don't play around with this program. Removing some settings may cause to screw your computer even more :p

Further then that:

Lavasoft AdAware (Freeware)
Spybot - Search & Destroy (Freeware)

Adware/Spyware Prevention
IE-SPYAD (Freeware)
Javacool Spyware Blaster (Freeware)

I have Norton 2004, as well as Microsoft AntiSpyware (Now known as Windows Defender), I just don't have them running all of the time. I pretty much only run them when I do my weekly scan and maintenance.

Btw, all of the crap that was in my computer is gone, but my desktop is still locked, which is what I was asking for help with.

disable activedesktop or whatever its called, its the thing that allows web-pages to be used as your desktop (or something like that)

your desktop should default back to whatever image it was before,

if thats what the problem was anyways =P

right click on your desktop and go to the desktop tab.

click "customize desktop" and go to the web tab, fiddle around in there and see if it fixes anything.

i cant even be 100% sure i knew what i was talking about with the activedesktop thing,

As you can see, everything is greyed out. It's completely locked. I went into the "Customize Desktop..." menu, and there was absolutely nothing that could fix it.

lol I don't have a suggestion as far as reclaiming your desktop (aside from formatting, naturally haha >_>)... however, I do have another one:

http://forum.esforces.com/showpost.php?p=719854&postcount=9

If you're gonna use IE, at least configure it correctly so sites can't hijack your **** so easily... otherwise Cucumba and I are gonna continue laughing about it on IRC :p

You should use Spywareblaster (as posted above by Skyrider) & have it configured & have it set to protect ie, or you could use the tea timer that comes with spybot to prevent such spyware related problems in the future.

Well, I guess I'm stuck with it then. Looks like the great minds of the ESF forums have finally been defeated.

You can try this.

Go to c:\windows\ and fint the wallpaper you see, (should be bmp or something like that) and delete it.

If it isnt BMP than go throo your desctop theemes list and check out evry name in there. If it aint in windows you can try searching for it and deleeting it there. Also some picture editors have the option use as desctop (or something like that) you can try that to.

Other than that:
-live with it
-Format C:

Found it, deleted it. I'm downloading something right now, but when it's done, I'll reboot to see if it's still there or not.

ROFL sad that those are your first words to me in however long it's been since we've spoken.

Anyways, rebooted, still no good. I'll try it DaRk's way and see what happens.

EDIT: I did manage to remove that annoying "SPYWARE INFECTION BISH!!!" text on the desktop, though. However, it's still locked, meaning I can't put the desktop pic I want in there...
