I have been seeing this more frequently. Sometimes I'll forget to turn my computer off and it will be working fine, but when I get home I pull it out of stand by, and I if I try to click a window, desktop item, or something in the task bar, there is no response.

I know nobody is touching it when this happens, since this has happened when I have fallen asleep and left on. I can bring up the start menu by pressing the shortcut key on the keyboard and shutting down, but this is beginning to get ridiculous. Any ideas to why this is happening?

You aren't setting it on standby through logout/turn off options yourself are you?.
My computer gets left on a bit, never have such bad issues. I've only seen such problems on computer's with near full hard disks or computers that could use a defrag/disk cleanup most of the time, unless their is a cpu/memory intensive task running in the background.
