It's the most intellectual and mysterious anime I've ever seen. Suspense was always around the corner, and the ending was the very pinnacle of it all. I swear my heart had never beaten that fast as it did when I was watching SPOILER: when I was watching Mikami count to 40. (except, you know, during that incident with the old guy and the catacombs, if anyone remembers)
I agree completely Dzamija. I loved it because it had me asking questions constantly. I hated it when L died. I was like WTF NOOOO! I felt sad, but at the same time that was one of my favorite parts because Light had beaten him, and his defeat came out of nowhere to him. I honestly didn't expect L to die as early on in the series as he did. I've never read the manga.
I don't even watch anime anymore, but this is by far the best and i started watching this like a month ago because when i last time watched it, it was not finished.
All i can say is that it's fantastic. There are some common silly things that usually every anime series has though..
I have to disagree with you guys. I thought the ending was fantastic. It would have been too obvious for Light to take over the world. Through the entire series, you're cheering Light on, until the end when L's successors manage to take him down.
I loved the ending. Wouldn't have changed a single thing about the series. It felt right for Light to lose, despite the attachment to him (and his support) that the series builds.
