Dark Dragon Blade in Ninja Gaiden... HOW DO YOU GET IT?

I read in a walkthrough at www.gamespot.com that once you get to chapter 13 the second time around, you just visit Murasama's Shop and you get the Dark Dragon Blade, has this worked for anyone and if their is another way, could you please tell me, thanks.

Beat the game once. then the first time you go to the shop on the second stage. it is above the statue

is that with using the save file created after beating the game once or starting a new game after that,

i started a new game, (with the new costume you get) and it was nowhere to be found,

well poo, i started that new game to get the sword, i dont have the patience to get all the scarabs and all the essence and crap all over again, was it better than the wooden sword? (after upgraded)?
