Looking to start up some light reading again at work. Was just going to post some of the manga/anime I have watched that I thoroughly enjoyed. So to give some ideas

Kekkaishi -
Ayakashi or demons are trying to gain a power that has been kept on a land from an old lord. This power has had a school built underneath it. 2 families have been protecting this location for generations and use the power of Kekkai to disable the monsters. Kekkai is the form of creating a barrier around the monster and then imploding from within.
Light Hearted and the main characters has some instances of Yusuke from Yu Yu as well as Inuyasha from well...Inuyasha. Thoroughly enjoyed the manga and the anime

--------------------------------------------

Air Gear - Got interested in the anime first. Great artwork...very simplistic plot but enjoyable
A new fad by the name of 'Air Treks' (a futuristic evolution of aggressive skating) has swept the nation's youth and all over gangs are being formed that compete in various events using their A-T's. Ikki is a middle-school boy who is the toughest street-fighting punk on the east side of town, on top of that he lives with 3 gorgeous sisters that took him in when he was a kid. But what Ikki doesn't know is that the girls are part of one of the most infamous A-T gangs, 'Sleeping Forest'. It doesn't take long before Ikki finds out about the world of Air Trecks and is propelled into a fate he had not foreseen.

Anime Ends earlier than the manga....the anime ends and is still very simplistic...when you get to the later stories in the manga...be prepared to having to reread the manga over a few times...the story gets a bit..weird.

Rental Magica -
The plot centers on the magician-dispatch service and Mage's Society: Astral. The main protagonist of the story is Astral's second president: Itsuki Iba, who, although he is young and inexperienced, ironically is not even a mage. Central to the story are Astral's many adventures with magical spirits and creatures, competing with rival company Goetia, rogue members, taboos and the Dark Magician's Society: Ophion, all while trying to complete enough jobs to pay the bills and fill The Association's quota and evade abolition. Each story arc is written as an incident in which the Astral members and their associates are involved.
I enjoyed this series off the bat but it slowly faded from my main watching. Something I do want to go back to.

--- edit ---

Shakugan no Shana -
Shakugan no Shana details an age-old conflict between those who inhabit the Crimson Realm (紅世 Guze?), a parallel universe to the human world. The Crimson Realm is populated by Crimson Denizens (紅世の徒 Guze no Tomogara?) who are able to manipulate Power of Existence (*在の力 Sonzai no Chikara?), a fundamental power within any biological entity and functions as "fuel" for one's existence.
Flaming red haired girl with giant sword to destroy beings and help those go off to the afterlife. Detailed artwork, fun storyline to follow. A bit kiddish at points but I fell in love with the first season many years ago.

Onegai Teacher

Please Teacher! is a story mainly revolving around a tight-knit group of friends in high school and how they cope with several life-changing events that are never too far off from intimate relationships. The main character is a boy named Kei Kusanagi who suffers from a very rare disease which causes a comatose state referred to as a "standstill" whenever he is under severe emotional distress.
Guilty pleasure...Teacher and student fall in love...teacher is "out of this world" while the boy has a disease that causes him to "standstill" and not age for 3 years...15 year old boy...technically 18.

LOVED THE OPENING THEME

----------------------------

Zero no Tsukaima

Louise is a noble girl who is terrible at magic, as her attempts usually result in an explosion. She is nicknamed "Louise the Zero" by her classmates, due to the inability to use any of the four magic elements. Early in the school year at the Tristain Academy of Magic, the second year students perform a special ritual where they summon their familiar, which serves as their eternal protector and partner, and is usually some sort of magical creature. But Louise summons Saito Hiraga, an ordinary teenage boy from Japan, leaving her totally humiliated.
Think Inuyasha met Harry Potter with a girl as a protagonist

-----------------------------------------
ONE-PUNCH-MAN
The story takes place in a the fictional metropolis of City Z, Japan. The world is full of strange monsters that mysteriously appear and cause many disasters. Saitama, the protagonist, is a super powerful hero who easily defeats the monsters or other villains with one punch. However, after becoming too strong, Saitama becomes bored of his powers and is always trying to find stronger opponents who can fight him.

On his adventures, he meets new friends, enemies, and his own disciple, the cyborg Genos, and joins the Hero Association in order to gain fame for all of his actions to prevent evil. Despite defeating many strong monsters that even the Hero Association’s top heroes are unable defeat, Saitama struggles to gain respect.
Its just fun to read. There are two versions. The manwha which had the original drawings and was kinda drawn like a horrible Salt and pepper construction booklet.

They are remaking it with detailed drawings...worth the laughs
