After seeing al the eyecandy in the beta I also want to make maps. So I've searched a tutorial and began workin'. I've tried to make a big room just to try out making a working map.

So i made me a big room and added the following entries:

- 10 info_good_start
- 10 info_evil_start
- 1 info_player_start
- 20 info_player_deathmatch

It looks like this..

When i finished I exported the map and compiled it with batchcompiler using zoner's half-life tools an the esf hull file.. When it was finished i looked at the log and saw there were a few errors in the places where the entries are located

Warning: === LEAK in hull 0 ===
Entity info_player_deathmatch @ (1280,-320,-128)
Error:
A LEAK is a hole in the map, where the inside of it is exposed to the
(unwanted) outside region. The entity listed in the error is just a helpful
indication of where the beginning of the leak pointfile starts, so the
beginning of the line can be quickly found and traced to until reaching the
outside. Unless this entity is accidentally on the outside of the map, it
probably should not be deleted. Some complex rotating objects entities need
their origins outside the map. To deal with these, just enclose the origin
brush with a solid world brush

I've searched in my map for leaks, placed the entries at other places but everytime when I'm compilling I get these errors.... ;(

Now when i try to play the map it crahes back to chosing a team instead of picking a character

Does somebody know what I'm doing wrong????

Here is the complete log just in case somebody needs it:

Thx in advance,

Hmmz maybe the problem isn't in my compillig skillz after all :D

I've just tried to play S2k_snakway_v2 and I had the same probem as with my big room map ..... o_o The map loads just fine, but when I try to pick a character the game crashes back to the "Pick a team menu"

Doesn anybody know what's wrong??? The esf_*.* maps are working just fine..

Yeah found the problem!! :D

Don't test maps in console by doing " map Mapname " but by creating a one man server.....

If you start the map from the console the Spec mode only works. If you want to be able to actually play on the map with a charactor then you need to start a game either in Lan or an Internet game.

cause of leak...

Well based on that picture............IS THAT WATER YOU USED FOR YOUR WALL?!

Well if you did...DON'T. lol. Thats where your leak is. If you really want it there, put sky behind it.

Apply a sky or create your own personal sky for the map?

To apply a sky simple make the outside of the map a texture called "sky"
