I want to learn how to code. I know this takes alot of time. I don't know how many months, years :)S ) that "alot" means though.

Any help would be appriciated. I want to know the best way to start, which program(s) to use, how long it'll take me to become a decent coder, which language to learn first (C, C++ etc.), which book to buy (if any at all), erm... can't think of anything else atm.

I'll probably give up quick but I want to give it a shot.

Probably start out with basic. Learn the concepts of coding. Then move onto c.

The best way to learn is with classes. Buying a thick thousand page book and sitting down in front of a computer won't get you anywhere fast, but getting into a class will.
I know at my high school you can take C++, and I'm going to next year. A good knowledge of BASIC helps though, do you know Visual BASIC? If not, you should probably learn that first.
