Adding another Gohan model into the fray, this one, as per usual, altered from the original concept. At this point I'd come up with something clever to say about the stylistic changes my deranged mind led me to make, but its close to 3am so I'll pass on that just this once.

(Funny story. I saw this earlier today and decided to finish off all of Gohan's forms in two hours tops. Then I realized that I had some bad habits that were present in the polygon flow, and that the design was fairly boring, and the proportions were incredibly off . . . so I decided to redo it. That was 12 hours ago ;_;

Double layered pants and shirt, soft soled . . . something, and realisticified face which for some reason looks like someone I've seen ><;
If I'd planned out the design a bit better, there'd have been actual polygon legs within the pants, and that would have the blue undermaterial there is now, and the pants themselves would've been alpha'ed similar to the current design to show the detail.

I'll probably end up heavily tweaking the current fold layout because they just look "there" and not actually depicting the flow of a material. Same thing about the lower folds on the shirt. (I was heavily distracted, and that's the excuse I'm sticking too >_> )

SSJ and SSJ2 versions to come shortly after corrections.

Awesome stuff man, I definatly think you should make a model pack one day ^_^ you got a really interesting and refreshing style!

Only thing that bothered me really was the clothes folds but you said you'd take care of them so I'm not worried :) I cant wait to see how the SSJ2 form will turn out. Great work dude =D

dude..... you got a famous redesign style its simpel but also cool,i've tried it myself on a Majin Buu, will skin it soon aswell.

awesome stuff! would you release it for esf if you could or if someone would offer you to compile it?


btw the bandages on the body is pretty unseeable, contrast needed!

I guess the model is OK. I personally find the hair a bit to big and too many spikes on the front, and too few on the back. And I also don't like the face. He looks more like the guy from Bully than he looks like Gohan. (I know, it's the style. Doesn't mean I have to like it :p)

(I tried sizing down the SS2 hair above, but I like the poofiness so I think I'm going to stick with this version. I might make the hair a bit brighter though)

Toned down the folds and removed them in some places, and brightened up the bandages. Its more or less looking how I want; its not perfect by any means but I'm happy with it for the moment.
Also gave the ssj states a yellow tint to the clothes. I'm thinking it'll look better when there's an actual aura around the character though.

The original concept was that Gohan would have a pair of locks floating around him that he could use in combat similar to nunchucks. The locks would've represented his hidden potential, and as he advanced in forms they'd disappear one after the other.

It didn't sound to bad, but in actual application it was more of a distraction from Gohan, and didn't really tie into him, so I got rid of it.
I did have another idea though, with Gohan instead draped in chains, and smaller locks hanging off of them, and he'd fight somewhat similar to Sora's Anti-Form. I want to actually make that one day, maybe as an alternate version . . .

@shadowcast: Are you thinking its because of the shape, or the skin tone?

@Sicron: Even though I don't have Bully yet, that's probably who I've been seeing in him.
I get what you're saying about the hair. Personally I like the absurd amount of spikes at the front, but I should have also put some more at the back to balance it out. I don't wanna just slap on a fix though, or have to remap parts of the head entirely, so I'll leave it as it.

:rolleyes: roll it to me baby, add me on msn or pm me a link where i can download your gohans in 3ds files and the textures of each one. i would compile them as soon my projects will let me.

The yellow tint gives the blue areas a green shade though =o it looks a bit weird but like you said it might look better with an aura =D

@SV: Thanks ^^ It actualy isn't that much of a difference ingame. The colors get kinda of dulled with hl's shadowing so you can't really tell.

Anyway, I stopped being lazy and took the time to learn how to get a model into half life, which is quite satisfying. There are a few deformation issues to be worked out, and whenever I get into a Head on struggle with another player their model disappears (unless its another Gohan, in which case they're mashed together) I'm not quite sure what's causing it.

i think you've got all the style in the world in your models and when you can translate that style over to the 2d aspect it's going to be something nice to look at :)
