Um... cell shading isn't accomplished by placing lights.

There's tutorials all over the internet for it. In 3d Studio max it's a modifier called Ink N Paint and if you have the new Maya it's simply titled 'Toon Shader'. You're bound to find something.

^_^ my old Tutorial i made, its like 2 years old =0 =0 =0

its a simple step by step, how to configure ink and paint, standart settings.

and Cell shading wont work with ESF/hl 1

I tried something with a fallof efect..........ill try till the end of the day ingame......................hope it will work..........Oh and good tut.........you hapen to have any lying there on your comp :laff:

If you get it to work, thats awesome, but my hopes aren't too high. HL won't even allow you to self-illuminate objects, its very basic shading, practically graphics you see within a 3D application viewport. Therefore, chances are that the material types which produce the shaded trick won't translate properly. At best (if your character is low enough poly already) you can create simple ink lines by cloning an object, adding a push modifier to the clone, and adding a normal modifier (ie: reversing the normals). Make that clone black and you have a basic Ink Line. No shading tho.
