More tweaking. Ignore everything else before this :)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 $269.00
EVGA 780i $329.00
Corsair DDR2 4-4-4-12 800mhz $198.00
Sony Sata AWG170SB2B $55.70
Gigabyte*GF 8800GT PCI-E 512MB $352.00
Gigabyte*GF 8800GT PCI-E 512MB $352.00
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio $126.50
Logitech R-10 Black 2-piece Speakers $38.50
Silverstone 650W ST65ZF $176.00

Found some cheaper stuff and went for the 8800GT (no 'S') with the extra gfx card its still under budget by about $100 so it looks like a superior option atm. Think this'll be my final list that I'm gonna go shopping for.
Please, for the love of God, use NewEgg.com. I see some of your prices have been made more sane, like the Q6600. $350 is insane. $250 is better.

Instead of the EVGA 780i, I'd recommend the Abit IP35 Pro, which is around $150. UNLESS you absolutely want SLI (2x video cards). This motherboard can't handle SLI, but is one of the best single card mobos.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145590

Get THIS RAM. It's the one you want. Corsair XMS 2, 2GB of DDR2-800. But it's only $53.00 per 2GB. HALF the price you want. If you send the rebates in, it's $28.00 per 2GB!! You could get 4GB of RAM for about $50!

Much better than $200! Don't you think?

I'm glad you decided on the 8800GT. It makes much more sense than the GTS. GTS is too expensive for only a very slight jump in performance. 2x8800GT isn't a bad idea, but stay away from the fanless Sparkle versions (they run too hot). I think your price is too high--NewEgg has 8800GTs for around 200-230.

If you end up running 2x video cards, you will want a 650ish power supply, so that's good. If not? Only get a 500-550~. I'd recommend a CORSAIR one, like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004&Tpk=Corsair+550w .

Also consider a WD Raptor. They make a big difference in some gaming/all loading performance.

Whoever is giving you your prices is trying to cheat you.

Only a fool here buys a Q6600 for $350 at current prices if you observe most of the average prices unless it's factored in with a special for another item)...

And yet IT Estate lists the Q6600 for $269... I know IT Estate well, because I shop there often... He also has to take into consideration shipping costs from America, put up with waiting on parcels to be delivered from America and that's not really that much fun at all.

We speak in $AUD here...
I buy from the awesome www.auspcmarket.com.au

My Current system which I built rather cheaply consists of:

Pentium 2160 @ 3.0ghz (Dual Core, based on the Core 2 Architecture)
2gb of memory
Crossfire 3850's

But here goes:

Processor: Intel Core2 Duo E6750 2.66Ghz, 1333mhz FSB, Dual core - $253

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP35-DS3P - With Crossfire support. - $214

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP35-DS3 - No Dual Video card support - $176

Memory: Corsair Twin2X 2048MB (2x 1024mb) XMS2-5400 Twin Pack - $93.50

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon 3850 512mb - $273.90 (547.80 for two)

Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro - $204.60

Monitor: Samsung 206BW 20" - $374

DVD Drive: Pioneer BDC-S02BK black SATA DVD-RW drive and Blue-Ray Player - $231

Case: THERMALTAKE SOPRANO FX - $264

PU: Thermaltake 600W Toughpower - $181.50

Total Price: $2132.90 Minus $11 on the Core 2 Duo + Core 2 Duo motherboard special.
You could ditch the sound card for a cheaper one like the:
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Soundcard - $118 Which brings the price down to $2037.10
All Prices in Australian.
I Have the Crossfire 3850's and they are actually rather good in Crysis, Managing High Quality some settings on very high - And I have the exact same cards overclocked slightly past the 3870 Stock speeds and can outperform any single Geforce 8 or 9 card available.
And I can't forget to mention the Prices Include GST, Freight and insurance.
He's hasn't stated the needs of a case just yet, plus that's more expensive then what I recommended, not to mention worse and that I can get a E8400 cheaper new then the E6750 you posted if you take a look here starting from $239... That's also quite a high cost for a pair of HD3850s, I can go get a pair of HD3870s from $239 and upwards too... Not to mention that prices are more expensive in your list too...

I did want the SLI and that was what I've been looking at in Motherboards, the eVGA however is 3x SLI which I thought was a little excessive so I am looking into alternatives for that.

All prices have been found online from a collection of websites, and shouldn't be taken too literally, I did think it was a pricey for what I wanted but I did take it into consideration. I'll know more about prices when I get the call today, and I'll list his quotes versus what I can get online.

prices are AUSD btw :p

The egg doesn't ship to Australia, Plus everything was in Australian Currency (Which explains the large Price difference - Not everyone lives in America and enjoys low prices on everything!)

I suggest just looking at the parts everyone has listed here, and "Pinch" what you think is good value - Then try and get the lowest price on everything, remember! The longer you wait the cheaper it becomes :)

It's a nice theory, but as a friend of mine told me when I bought my first PC, the longer you wait, the more chance you have of something better coming out. Which hurts when you're trying to buy the best possible (within budget) that'll last a long time.

As a subnote, I'm hoping to have this PC last 3 years like my current one has.

The best deal out of the 3 seems to be Jim's IMO, seems to be nice and competitive with other stores. I'd personally go for eveyrthing in his quote except maybe purchase a pair of 8800GTS SLI from IT Estate seperately rather then getting two 8800GT unless he can offer them to you around a similar price range.
