Well, I searched, and came up with nothing, so here's something that popped into my head the other day. After firing a beam, theres a trail that's connected to the head.. I thought it would be neat if an enemy ran into that trail it hurt him. I thought about the beam exploding, but that would be kind of lame.
Also, there's something that makes ESF look awkward, I've brought this up before, but it kind of died. Right after you fire a beam, it's as if there's a starting point that's made for the beam, so if you fall, you the beam trail doesn't follow you down and start making a diaganol shape, but it bends into an L type shape. This also happens when you fire a beam falling down, the trail doesnt move down with you, you fire it and the head follows you down, but the trail stays above you and you now make a V shape. Sometimes you can beat the beam to the ground, which makes beamjumping look really weird.
