Backround Help

I'm currently making a new sig with Raziel, from Soul Reaver. And I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips, or idea's for what I could do for a backround. I'm asking because I wanna try and make this look real good, (well in my eyes anyways) and I can never produce a good backround, it's usually just the cloud filter with a bit of alterations (I use photoshop by the way). If someone could help me, or at least give me a link for a tutorial on backrounds, It would be very helpful.

*Edit* Never mind, forget the whole thing I said. I fiddled around and got something i liked. I'm gonna post the sig shortly.
