Well on the plus side, I got a whole week off of school. Yay!

But on the bad side, I have physics 11, chemistry 11, and biology 11 all in this semester. So catching up on all of that on top of learning new things won't be that fun. Boo!

And that's about as much though i've put into it. :p

Moron teachers.
Fire them and get the replacements.
That's at least what I'd do if anyone had a strike on my company(If I had one).

There are alot of unemployed teachers, gogo, start scooping.
As for you students, vacation :D.

Teachers should be among the highest paid people in society, second only to doctors, police, and firefighters.

Though I'm a little annoyed. They went on strike, basically, because they don't want to have to wait a year for a raise--not because their budgets were cut, not because their pay was cut, not because their livelihood was at stake or anything like what goes on here in Massachusetts.

I hope those people lose their damn jobs.

Teachers in New York are still working even though they don't even have a contract.

How well paid are they compared with the other provinces? If theyre low paid as it is, I support them going on strike. They clearly feel a strike is necessary, 90.5% of them voted for the strike. Thats a much larger percentage than when my teachers went on strike a couple years ago.

Teachers should be paid more. But the fact that they went on strike means that they care more about money than their actual job of educating people. In my opinion, that warrents their replacement.

They arent paid enough, but they cant protest? How does that work?

If they sit on their asses and wait for a raise, nothing will happen. The government will try to pay these people as little as possible, so nonaction wont accomplish anything. Saying that going on strike is selfish is just plain stupid. People work to earn a living, and if you can do something you love, like teaching, thats a plus, but many of these teachers have families of their own to support and last I checked, the cost of living wasnt exactly going down. If they cared more about teaching than money they would be in Ethiopia teaching poor orphans, not here, earning a living.

If you felt you werent being properly paid for the long hours you work (essays and assignments dont mark themselves) would you just sit there while everyone ignores you? Of course not. Dont condemn them simply because they want more money. If it wasnt for people wanting more money and not settling for too little, we could be living under under capitalism rather than the mix of socialism and capitalism that we enjoy. Strikes are a neccessary unpleasantness that gives those who would never be heard a voice, and these teachers need to be heard.

Sorry for the rant.

Right now I'm blaming the goverment for not doing anything about this. I would have liked a one or two day break, but a week? Things in school are gona be a disaster once the 600000+ students get back in. The goverment should have done something earlier to get school happening again.
