let us refer to the forum rules....
- spamming the forums
- abuse in ANY FORM, FASHION OR APPROACH! This includes via Private Messages, threads, emails etc.
- discrimination NO RACISM IS TOLLERATED IN ANY WAY. Name calling, sarcastic jokes and other hanus behavious is tolllerated, within mature moderation
- asking to be given future releases (the beta etc) or be made a moderator/admin/op etc
- flaming ANYONE, including newbies, moderators, admins and normal forum goers. Keep it clean and we'll keep it fun
- posting of or referencing to illegal material. This includes porn, hentai, warez, ftps, leech sites, fserves, cracks, patches, mods, chips etc
- swearing is not tollerated, and while we do our best to edit it out, it can appear when people space their words out (l i k e t h i s). We will warn, and ban for such occurances
- excessive and or hanus sigs - keep them clean, and healthy - also as small as possible where relevant.
those, are what you dont do.
find me the part that says 'dont advertise'
and dont give me any 'unwriten rule' crap

theres only one reason i see why you wouldnt want up-and-coming mods to not post their links on your forums: fear of loosing popularity

how is a mod supposed to start if its getting shot down every time it tries to find support? who knows, by censoring that spider-man mods site, you might have crippled what could have potentially been the greatest mod created.

sounds like a communist plot to me.....

people need to get a start somewhere, and usually places with a huge fan-base are a good spot, since they can spare one or two people (who are still going to play whatever they were playing in the first place) its not like EVERYONE is going to jump on over...

Hey its their forum

they can do what the hell they want in it.

if they say NO ADVERTISING then just dont advertise!

They can ban all of us if they wanted to for no reason cuz its thier forum and they pay for it.

Your trying to use their bandwidth to advertise your own mods.

Use advertise like everyone else.Go to Mods Top100 things....

idk why they pay for it but anyway
todd is right there
but
when doing this to a nice guy trying to advertise he gets pissed, he tells other people, they think its not right, they spread it around, and it gives fourms bad rep., especailly when it doesnt say it in rules
im also pretty sure when esf was young it was like what todd said, it advertised on msg boards and stuff, but after they get big and popular where they once were they wont let other people do because something bad might happen, a new good mod compition who knows ?

Well I would think enough posts closed because of advertising, that people would go "hey, maybe that is a rule or somehting" maybe after theyve seen about 1000 posts about it...

But if you have a mod and your trying to make it popular.

you'll get mad if someone said "Hey,lets crap this mod got to mine!its better!"

thats why they laid out rules....

we are not saying screw this mod, people can like more than one mod we are just showing people to other mods, not trying to take populatirty away, just showing variety i mean if people still like esf they will play it

example? alright, heres and example,
when i was playing dmz, there were only a couple other mods i played. TFC, counter strike, and day of defeat. because they allow advertisement, i found science and industry, tour of duty, natural selection, the opera, and even god damn ESF.
there was a god damn 'esf release' thread over there
put something like that up here, watch it fall in a huge ball of flame

and you know what? even with all those other mods, i still play dmz.
