Well i didnt learn to uv-map and skin my previous tenza zangetsu, so lot of detail i hoped to put in was left out... So i decided to do opposite of saving polys, which is making this high poly tensa zangetsu... This is what i got out:

Polycount is 1082. And the blade isn't finished and chain is missing... :laff:

its not smooth enough to be high poly, and its not really good enough for low poly...

It's flat shaded, so it may not look too smooth, but when smooth shaded you cant see all the details... And it's my 3rd model so, dont expect too much from me. Also done with milkshape3d...

sorry i didnt word myself too well... i mean like, the general curve on some of the lumps is way too sharp, even for flatshading. its too low poly to be a high poly mesh.

and its too high poly, to be a low poly mesh.

Dont underestimate Milkshape  it can be as powerful as other modeling programs if you know how to use it =)

Looks really cool man, and you can insert smoothing groups, so then those details will be sharp and visible even with smooth shaded.

Thanks! Well i'm gonna redo the hilt, because thats the only part i can think of that could have smoother curves... But other than that, any suggestions on should i make the blade curved or straight?
Edit:
Nevermind the question i made it curved because it is curved in the manga. And now its finished. I made the chain extra high poly so it looks quite round even in flatshaded closeups...Well ill let the images do the talking:

If you think something needs some fixing then say so, i might aswell fix them.
Coming soon Shodeno Shirayuki...maybe...

The red squares are to close and to big.. And there's only 10-11 of them..
Scale them down a bit and put some space between them.. and them cut down the numbers.. else everything looks nice :)

Oh.. And blade is quite longer.. at least in some pics..

I'm going for even higher quality hilt on my Shodeno Shirayuki model so i might as well use the hilt im making and put it in this too...There i fixed most of the problems you mentioned... You just gotta wait and see...
@Pixel: I havent really seen many sword models around here, But thanks anyway! (Why did you change your name from tryforce?)
@Hamppu: Thanks!

Now i made it more like the image JTR posted...Expect i ended up miscalculating the squares  Now theres 12 squares instead of 11... Maybe ill fix that later... And i kind of inspired the part where the chain is attached...
Well heres the pictures:

(seems like ill have to upload more pictures later, imageshack seems to be out of order for me)

Hmmm....Learning isn't so easy, It's hard.
Anyway, the polycount now is whopping 9416 where hilt is 3456, and 480 per part of chain(10x480=4800) so they make the most of it. I admit, chains are little bit too high on poly.

Here's close up from the hilt:

Even closer:

Same picture smoothshaded:
