Another GTA: San Andreas lawsuit filed
An Illinois mother has filed a class action suit against Rockstar Games, claiming that her teen-age children were exposed to sexually explicit content.

From The Madison St. Clair Record, "Brenda Stanhouse claims at the time she bought the game--in which police-shooting characters are heroes--it was rated 'M' for mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB)."

"Stanhouse, represented by John Steward and Lance Harke of Nester and Constance in Belleville, filed suit against the video games developers and marketers on Sept 8. It was the 28th class action lawsuit of the year in St. Clair County."

"She is asking the court to maintain her case as a class action and appoint her as the class representative. No class member is seeking damages in excess of $75,000."

Sweet! I'm gonna go sue for a bunch of money regaurdless of the information that I knew what the game was rated and that it says on the box why it is rated M. M standing for mature as in 17+ yet I bought it for my wittle baby waby. YAY! $75,000. You would think that the guy holding a gun on the front case woulda been a clue yet I'm just so arrogant that I didnt notice.. Oh well. SUE!!!!!!
And I dont even like those games. But its like saying. "I bought a porno for my kid and I'm sueing because it has sexual content in it."

For what? The Hot coffee thing?

Well frist of all, the mother is just plain ignorant if she is going to buy a game rated M and descriptions of what it contains

And if it IS hot coffee, the kids are losers for going to extra lenghts to see some polygonal sex acts.

Rockstar had BETTER tell that ***** to STFU and **** off, because they don't need to do anything for her. It's her own damn fault for buying the game and not reading the goddamn package. That's what the ratings are for! Jesus.

Exposed?

By exposed you mean the kid searched the internet, found the patch with detailed listing of what it would do, installed the patch, dated a girlfriend until she was ready to have 'hot coffee' and then said yes?

:/

As has been said many times, it's a frightening thing that Americans will happily watch their children murder and pillage but when it comes to sex between two consenting adults they throw up this kind of ruckus.

Word to that.

Funny how people will allways sue even if they were warned about something from before hand. You can't buy a M rated game and expect it's going to be like Sesame Street.

That's simple, Grega. They never will.

It's too easy. And with a justice system like America's, it's apparently rather easy to get money out of it too.

That justice system just seems to work for the people it shouldnt and whom it should help because they need it are left aside. It's just like this woman that sued McDonalds because -she- spilled hot coffee all over -herself- or that other someone that sued them because they made him fat when it's your choice to go there and eat.
And I must say that people that tried to dry their cat in the microwave should get sued for ignorance.

Agrees just like the guy that washed his dog by puting him into the washmascheene -_-

There should be a new law.
No more stupid lawsuits.

I even heard of a guy who filed one against a car factory for not telling him he has to hold the steeringwheel when the speedlimiter is on.

Oh and the woman sued Mcdonalds cause they didnt tell her the coffee was hot. I mean it says hot coffee when you order it -_-"

The sad part is that the system is to open for stupid things like taht.

I mean why not just throw the TV out of the window hit a guy on the head and sue teh company that made the TV cause they never said it can kill a guy if it falls on his head. And youd probably win to.

Sad but true :s

she bought the game
SHE exposed her children to "sexually explicit content", (if any of you have seen the mod in question youd know why i put that in quoatation marks)

the thing that irks me about this whole hot coffee mod fiasco is that you have to INTENTIONALLY modify your game in order to view it, rockstar didnt force the minigame on anywone, (in factthey removed it from the actual game). i dont think they should be held responsible for it since it was a 3rd party who put it back in, (i know they kept it on the disc, but it was unnaccesible)

Wasn't San Andreas upgraded from M (17+) to AO (18+) to specifically stop things like this from happening?

Rockstar released an M rated version. However, the woman filed the lawsuit before they released the new M rated version so shes still trying to get money which (if there was any psychological damage done to her child) does nothing to help her child.

"You Americans"
Keep comments like that elsewhere, because well, I'm one of "them" Americans and don't really like being tossed in a category with gold diggers such as that, thanks.

I'm pretty sure she'll lose the case anyways..if she hasn't already won, heh..then that'd suck, but meh.
