So I saved a video (.mpeg) and a part of the file name had a "." in it and now the remaining letters are showing up as the incorrect format of the video.
Thus, I cannot watch it even with MPC.

Is there some way I can rename the file so that it will be the proper file format?
I tried .mpeg at the end of the rename but it still shows in properties as the previous invalid format.

*.* basically means "all".

Was it an incomplete file?

Tools>foulder options> voew> hide extensions for known file types.

That should make the fake extention viseable. Change that and it should work normally.

Thanks, that did the trick.

@Shiyo, no it was a HD movie, I could pause it half way through, and a few minutes later it would render the sound/picture.
Then pause again if I played it.
