Well its a well known conspiracy. I just wanna know what you people think about it. So discuss.

I actually think its a bit exaggerated, like, they can't do things they aren't programmed to do, and I don't think they can develop an opinion by them self.

Yeah not a deep opinion, I wanna see yours.

Discuss fellas, its interesting

There will always be either a man working the machine from afar, or a man waiting to press the killswitch should the bot get out of control.

So no, I don't think this is a likely scenario.

I don't see why not. Sure, they can't do things they aren't programed for, but what happens when we create AI that thinks for itself? Unlikely that we wouldn't have a plan for preventing this, sure, but it's still a possibility.

I for one look forward to our future robot overlords.

I actually think all this AI testing and messing around must be stop.
We play with fire. And why all this AI anyhow, people should do stuff by their own. non AI computers is enough.

By the way, what with Video Games AI, someone can explain me whats the difference between that and AI of robots for example?

Actually what the Core computer on "I Robot" movie in the end says something very smart: They actually kill humans because we wreck our self and our world, why should we deserve it. Or something like that. Still it has a meaning.

If I wasn't human (machine for this case) and has a similar amount of intelligence as a human, id say we don't deserve earth as we treat it.

Still "Terminator" movie is different than "I Robot" movie.

Until we can get computers to think for themselves in terms of language (the catalyst for our creative thinking and self awareness) it won't happen, and that is so far off it's not funny.

Machines and computers have always existed to make human life easier. If you're saying we should take it all away, then saddle up cowboy! Because it's 1864 all over again. I'm just a simple blacksmith, I don't know nothin' 'bout no fancy door code.

Agreed.

Now let's inject the test subjects with Ultra Contagious Leprosy-X3, and see what happens. I sure do hope they don't walk out the front door.

lol yeah, im just saying, what we have now is sorta enough, at least don't get into making robots think for them self, whats the point, so they serve you? theres people who need this job to serve you..

I think what we have now is pretty enough.

That program wasn't thinking for itself, it was a trick. If you said x word, it'll give out y response. All they did was type out tons of responses.

@your new post: Why are you so scared of progress?

It's actually very simple programming. You compare a phrase to another phrase. If it's equal, you respond with whatever phrase you've written in the event that it's equal. That's programming right there, a large number of conditions, and instructions that follow those conditions.

Speaking from a programmer's perspective, that iGod script sucks hardcore, but it's still entertaining.

Nah. I'm going to go ahead and support the development of AI. We're going to need it when we want to chart a course through the galaxy (when we perfect our jump/warp drives) without flying into a star or hitting space debris.

Unless you're handy with a calculator? Are you? Cause we could really use your help, man.

Well we get into stuff which is pretty risky, in my opinion.

And yeah you always want to progress, but for what, people will get lazier.

I even talked with my friend about something that would be invented sorta like the matrix, people will decide to live in their imaginary world with a machine sorta like matrix which they program for them self and not gain it(Like im ugly and I got crappy grades)

I just don't get it why we should progress any further (at least in some of the stuff we can keep it this way, I think people will get lazier)

Why would we settle on an imaginary world when we can merge man with machine and accomplish so much more in our reality? I know I'd sure as hell like machine legs or some kind of nanobot to help me super jump my way across NYC. Or super arms to lift trucks. That's all within our grasp as long as we don't slip into complacency.

That can be done without AI.

There is no real need for AI, all that can come from it are different perspectives on social, moral and philosophical aspects of our thinking. Our science can advance just as quickly without AI. Computers can solve scientific and mathematical problems without self awareness, and have no place pondering human social, moral and philosophical issues unless for experimentation sake.

You don't understand why we should progress further?

Look up at the sky. Do you see those the stars? If humanity wants to survive, we're going to need to colonize the planets orbiting those stars. If humanity wants to thrive, we're going to want to spread across the universe, preferably like a plague.

I don't think you can successfully argue that Artificial Intelligence would not help us in achieving this goal, or other goals such as curing cancer, aids, etc. Computing power is making huge leaps and bounds, I'm a firm believer that eventually, we'll create an A.I. capable of thought that is equal to the entire human race combined. And then we'll double that. And then we'll double that. And than we'll double that...

It'd be infinitely easier with HAL-9000.

Seriously, why be content with what we have? Isn't the entire reason that we're as advanced as we are now because no one was content, people have wanted to push the boundaries of what is known or possible? Why stop that? Doesn't make any sense to me.
