I noticed in some ESF final videos that sometimes when you teleport, you can see it leaving some kind of trail behind it that seems to indicate the direction that the player teleported to, but sometimes you dont see anything.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxui5Qrj7fA at 0:35 you can see the teleport leaving a transparent trail but again at 1:02 theres no trail.
How does this work ? Is there a trail for when you teleport and does the teleport charge affect this ?
It might not seem important but it can affect some gameplay elements, for example, if it shows the direction in which the player just teleported to, it becomes much easier to counter that so i want to know your approach on this.

Its not a teleport trail a 0:35. Its a bugged blur effect for the character. And the reason why you dont see it later is becasue dalte filmed some of those parts with the effect turned off.

But does it "hint" the direction of the teleport or is it just a visual effect ?

Its a visual effect. Its there to blur fast movements of your character. And its totally client side. It smudges fast moving parts to give the impression of speed. The reason for the after image like effect was a bug really. It wont show where you teleport.

That said its an effect for your character. On chars far away its nowhere near as noticeable.
