I would recommed you download Milkshape if you want to start modeling. And if you want to start skinning you need some skill and a decent artwork program like PhotoShop 6 and maybe a tablet if you really are taking it seriously!

gmax should do. I personally use 3dsm but its almost the same thing... only some things are taken off. How to model depends on what you want to do. easiest to do is swords (in milkshape too). Im pretty lousy making player models, so i do view models instead. But i say, get milkshape (search for it, you WILL find it if u search in the right engine), then practise, practise, practise! :D

Some Help

Heres a few links that may help you in your quest :fight:

http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ms3d/download.html

the first one will get you Milkshape, and a lot of tutorials, and help, the following ones are just general help sites for modelling and skinning

http://www.planetquake.com/skindom/faq/quake3/

http://www.planetquake.com/q3manga/oldsite/modelling_tut1.htm ....... In my opinion, this is THE definitave tutorial for n00b character modellers, like me :fight:

http://www.quake3world.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/001100.html]

that should get you started

Cheers

sigh

well, i didnt use those tutorials, i got really confused by them. So i will try to do stuff on my own from now on. Except animating/skinning, cuz i dont know how to. And one more thing, the way people describe how to animate, SUCKS! I mean, they say that you should use biped, attach to node, but on one model of mine, it crashed if i did. And on the other ones, the skeleton wasnt attached, no matter what i did. So i will HAVE to find help animating/skinning. Up to the job, someone?

Download the tutorials for GMAX, believe me when I say that they're really easy to go through and help you understand the basics of the program
