W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad ???

My friend is having a problem playing ESF on his computer... he has both Half-Life 1 along with Counter-Strike and Condition-Zero. Does Condition-Zero effect anything? But anyways everytime he tries to play, he gets an error that says 'W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad'. Any help? :S

What game are you trying to install ESF into?
Half-Life 1 or Counter-Strike.

No Router.

Don't Know, Can't Play It.


If you have an error message, what is the exact error message?

If he can get into the game menus then he should be able to check what gfx mode he is running in options > Video.

Hooray for corrupt files!

Yeah, you installed ESF and it's missing a *wad. Which is exactly why you can't start ESF. More specifically you're missing the gfx.wad. You need that to play (obviously)

Download ESF from another place. Where did you initially download it. Try www.esf-world.com or hl2files.com or gamespace.com or other places that might host it. Or you can try uninstalling ESF and try reinstalling. That might work, though I doubt it.

Ok, so I went to his house today, and told him to reinstall... it works!! :) , but thanks for you guys help anyways. heh, we should've done it earlier.. I'm so dumb.

and yes we downloaded the file from another place then hl2files :yes:
