Installation Help

Hello, i'm new to this. I already have Steam downloaded, and bought Half-Life. I made sure I played it real quick to have files updated too, but yet it still won't install correctly.

I first off tried to install the ESF 1.2.3, this one actually worked up until the part where I needed to actually open the file now. I made sure it was in the half-life folder, but when I tried to open it all I got was a list of options to open it with. I am using Windows 7 btw. I then tried to install the open-beta instead, and that didn't even let me try to install it. All I got was a windows message saying it couldn't find a program to install it with.

Any help is appreciated!

Did you buy Half-life from a store? If you did, you dont have to install it, just enter the CD Key into steam. There should be an add product key button on the lower left. Then let HL update, and THEN install esf inside Half-life in Steamapps, steam folder.

I just found out I needed to add .exe to the file, now everything works fine!
