Name: esfb123
Type of file: file
Size: 184mb

It can't run, because it doesn't know how to- it just asks me to choose a program to run it with. I have never seen this before..

Where did you download it from?

And did you save it correctly?

Sure. I mean, I've done this at least 25 times in the past 5 years. I feel like a lost damn child.

I downloaded it from FileFront. I'd take a screencap of what I see when starting the file download if I wasn't so lazy, but it basically even says before I save it to any location and begin downloading that it can't identify the file type:

"Where do you want to save this file?
Name: esfb123
Type: Unknown File Type, 184mb
From: media1.filefront.com"

Try a different mirror. Could be a corrupt download.

Well, I thought HL2files/FileFront was your guys' preferred site. Personally I don't even trust those other sites. Perhaps Skyrider, or someone, should reupload it to HL2files.com.

Well i always download from esf-world

As for HL2 files. Sky is prety much abusing his access to promote that link more XD

In any case i just checked. Nothing wrong with the download. My guess is that your download settings saved your file without an extention.

Try adding a ".exe" at the end of the file name. Might fix it.

I've downloaded and tested the file, and it works perfectly without any problems.

I merely added it as a main mirror here on the forums. I'll be adding ModDB links to the download section soonish as well :).

Btw. does the issue only happens with this specific exe file? If not, the program that opens and runs the *.EXE files is corrupted and needs to be restored.

I downloaded it there to. Thing is the extension is wrong.
You need to change the name but only put .exe behind it and it will reconice it again.

Firefox saves it as an EXE file for me. So no errors.

Yeah I download with IE and gave me an unknown file without the .exe extension.
So I added it and worked again.
