the shapes are good but you really need to work on your materials.. bump maps and specular maps do wonders..
also, dont tile your textures too much, the ground carpet is the same small texture over and over again...
area shadows would be nice too and remember that lighting is the most importaint thing to make something look nice.., look at the master chief model in Judge's sig, that model has 1400 polygons, but just because of the bump and specular maps it looks that detailed.

dont take this in a wrong way, i like your scene but its a shame that wrong lighting and materials can kill a scene like that.(in my opinion)

#edit:
hey i made a lil page showing those maps, look at it and see what i mean:

Great stuff, Masta - with a bit more practice, you can become even better at this than you already are. :)

Agreed. I actually have bump maps on the carpet and the chair, but due to time issues (end of the semester) I wasn't able to add them to anything else. I didn't even think about using specular maps, good idea. That's a nice tuturorial by the way :0)

Ya i noticed that too. Its really good its just lack of bump maps. Lighting is also very important when doing a scene. My teacher always tells us about the lighting. "Don't forget your shadows or ill take points off.." i was like man damn. I didnt do that well with mine either though i must admit due to bump map, i may have overdid it...maybe. But i think i made it look like a decent carpet. I dont have my work with me...its at school, i need to burn all my work with me and take some of the programs home that way i can do better on it rather than just take it 50 mins a day. I barely got done with my scene. Anyway ya back to the matter at hand. Im just wonderin Masta, umm where you going at to take these classes? Also, does your school allow you to take the programs home for free? Just a thought bcuz we can take home some programs but not all. Also what programs are you using? Ever use TrueSpace? man i need like your AIM name or something lol.

Nelo,
My college offers a 3d animation degree, so I am taking classes towards that. This past semester was my first time taking a 3dsm class. Previous to to this class I had only used 3dsm for skinmapping.

They don't allow us to take the program home, but we can purchase a year long license for $100. So we have limited time per week like you. Also, i've never used TrueSpace.

Mystix,
I'm going to be taking the second part of the class next semester.

Dudeman,
Time issues :0). I had to render a fly through on a Pentium III pos. The teacher told us not to use ray tracing. Thanks for the input though.

no raytracing??? wow...that sux. So what did you do to model your stuff?? Cuz truespace believe it or not is a good modeling program. That's what i use to do...well mainly my scenes n what not with. I actually like that program, its not complicated like milkshape where you have to make triangles n what not...too troublesome. Just take some cubes n what not and turn it into a gun or a pencil or anything you pretty much want. Thats just my opinion but anyway i had my finals today using truespace and photoshop 5.0 (yuck) I think i did good. And thats besides the point. Well...umm..hmm..thats pretty darn cool. :laff:
