Swedes take the home run using AMD, DFI, GigaByte, and Corsair...

IF YOU FEEL that your spanking new AMD powered gaming rig is the best one in the world, think again.

Swedish hard-core overclockers, daily residents of site kindly named "Hardware Asylum" broke a 3Dmark world record. Which one, you might ask? The answer is - all of them.

Kinc scored 50,614 3Dmarks in eternal 3D Mark2001SE, 40,061 3Dmarks in 3DMark03 and sadly, Kinc couldn't manage over 20K in 3DMark05, so his score is a mere 17,560.

In terms of hardware, this luna... enthusiast used AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 cooled with proprietary "MMouse" Mousepot Dry Ice cooler. This helped CPU to reach skyrocketing clocks for AMD processors - all the way to 3.92GHz, lying on a board that seems to be overclocker's favourite board - the LANParty NF4-SLI-D.

The graphics part consisted out of a single GigaByte's 7800GTX (256MB version, not the upcoming one), clocked to 675MHz for the GPU and 792MHz DDR (that's 1.58 GHz). The memory in place was Corsair XMS, killing all those nasty rumours that you can't overclock LANParty motherboard if Corsair was used.

However, the party will not last long, since nVIDIA's upcoming baby features a highly tweaked PCB, which could aid overclockers in their target to reach the holy grail, a 1GHz/1GHz clock for the GPU/RAM on nVIDIA's side as well. Well, who said you can't clock 110nm chips? Wasn't me.
