I watched this and all I have to say, is something needs to be done.

tl;dr version:

What is happening is all major ISP's are coming together to sell you websites at prices. Say, you pay $59.99 a month for basic 200 websites, google, youtube, video.google.com, etc. The major websites everyone uses. But, if you want to access small time websites, such as your own or a newly started website, tough luck, you'll need to pay extra to view those websites.

what's everyones opinion?

I'm not sure if you guys are calling what the ISPs intend to do bull**** or if you believe net neutrality will always. Agreed to the former, you're a gigantic silly to the latter. Anyone belonging to the latter who lives in the US needs to start watching what laws get passed and by whom, because I'm getting tired of having to find the appropriate documentation and explaining it to everyone.

BS, it would ruin all types of businesses. The only type of internet provider that would probably do such a thing would be AOL.

Yeah, what we have now will be around forever.

Too many people love this system for it to break.

That's Tania, a Belgian prostitute-in-denial with the sole purpose of trying to get as much media-attention as possible. She (and her "team") would do anything to be in the "news".

http://www.pbs.org/moyers/moyersonamerica/net/neutrality.html

This is only from the business angle. People like Joe Liebermann are trying to label the internet as a terrorist tool that needs to be regulated and censored for the good of mankind.

More:

So to say the idea that one day businesses will get together and do what they've done in the past is preposterous, is in itself itself presposterous.

Net Neutrality is championed by far too many people for the ISPs to pull this off with Net 2.0. We'll see Net 2.0, oh yes, that's absolutely positive. However, even good chunks of the Government (at least in the united states) don't quite like the idea of getting into a constitutional battle when all these sites are suddenly smothered, or made available at severely knee capped speeds, or made available for a higher price. We'll see how it plays out, but much of the voting populace doesn't want to see a change to the current setup. In fact, the FCC has called Comcast out on the carpet for capping the speed of torrents running on their network. Liberman's a quack, he's the Jack Tompson of the senate, and has been trying to ban video games for a while now.

I don't want to see what certain companies have proposed become a reality, nor do I want to believe it's even possible. That said, the rules haven't applied in quite some time, and if McCain were to become President, he'd do everything in his power to get rid of Net Neutrality. You know, because he's thinking of the children. Will McCain win? Hopefully not, but with Karl Rove's "lost emails" pointing to voter caging and Hillary's supporters threatening to vote for McCain out of spite, I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to pull a victory out of his ass.

Unlike Thompson, Lieberman is the Senator of Connecticut so what he propositions has a little more weight than anything Thompson has ever said. It's also pretty obvious that he's just a Neo-Con who infiltrated the Democratic party, so it isn't like he's alone in his mentality.

Cleavage... that is all.

Seriously though, that's complete horse ****. It's bad enough that we have to deal with increasing prices of gas and inflation, but now I need to pay extra to go to some of the lesser known websites? **** that.

Definitely bullcake... Retarded.

If that ever happened, i wouldn't be able to go "data gather" at night :O
Anyways, the thing is - I don't really care if the internet disappears or not. No particular reason, but it's just not something i could die without.
