Usually, I’d ignore this, because all you do is provoke people and think you have all the answers–and you want to burn some aggression here.
First of all; Pokemon’s target audience was 5-11, roughly. Dragon Ball / Z ranged from 10-50! So how in the world can something like Sponge Bob Square Pants appeal to an adult the same way it does a child? Slim chance. Maybe a total of 10 adults in the world. For Dragon Ball, of course, it was all different–the show attracted people of all ages, and in large numbers. As a small bit of proof I can offer you; I knew 40 year olds who loved it. Of course, had they been into it since they were our age (and younger), they would’ve probably gone through an obsessive stage, like some of us. However, Pokemon was never brought up in any conversation I had with people. This is just an example.
If you’re a fan of cartoons you’re obviously going to be open to any sort, but there’s no way you or I could obsess over something like Pokemon, which was clearly made for children. I really don’t get how you don’t see the difference.
First things first, Japan has different regulations when it comes to broadcasting and the type of programming suitable for children, just because in comparison with Pokemon in the US, Dragonball Z looks much more grown up, doesnt change the fact that it is a children’s show.
You’re confusing the ages of the fan base with the age group the show was targeting, Dragonball Z was not made with 50 year olds in mind.
Should that stop older people from viewing it and enjoying it?, of course not.
The same goes with Pokemon, in Japan, it was aimed at roughly the same demographic as Dragonball Z, now should people outside the target audience not enjoy it because they’re older?
Call it whatever you want, I was merely pointing out the fact that you branded Pokemon as a kids show, like it was a bad thing yet you’re a huge Dbz fan

when you guys talk about spawn rates of rare pokemon and such your thinking to closed mindedly.
in the show ech type of pokemon had different personality traits
-some were solitary
-some live in groups
i thinkthat charmander bulbasaur and squirtle should be distributed based on these characteristics
for example
squirtle should move in small groups only in certain areas of the map and only at certain times of the day every couple days or weeks or so
bulbasaurs move alone and are very very difficult to find except for once every two months or something they gather in a certain place (very difficult to find) for the “evolution ceremony” that takes place in one of the episodes of the anime
and charmander live in ONE huge herd thats in a certain hidden place thats VERY difficult to get to
the pokemon should be distributed like they are in the show and wild pokemon should behave the same way there wild counterparts do in the show
like herds of tauros
flocks of spearow
slowpoke fishing for cloister
nido packs with dominant males and females
you get the point
That would be a terrible idea for spawn rate.
Once someone finds the way to all the charmander, it’ll be easy farming. Plus, a guide would seriously come up on how to get there, etc.
I think the once every 2 months @ a random time would be much more successful for someone to catch him, rather then someone going out and finding a huge flock of them.
Also, the creaters of the game can hold events, where as there are a bunch of Team Rockets throughout the game disguised and if they bump into you, you’re forced to duel.
I can already see it.
4 months into the game: “Omg I’m lost, i’ll go into this mountain area”
ZOMG CHARMANDERS
3 days later: “TRADING CHARMANDERS FOR 5000000 CREDITS”

Some people who hate Pokemon forget that the games are basically just RPG’s. But instead of you medieval mage with staff+2 and fireball you have charmander and bulbasaur etc^^.
I thought that gold/silver were pretty good games too, but after that the number of Pokemon got too high for my taste.
I there will be a Pokemon MMO, it should be possible to become gym leader.
And turn based fighting system would be best IMO.
I don’t know…to be a gym leader you’d have to be really good, so good infact that you could filter out crappy players. Even so, you’d probably have to be available 24/7
I m not really fan of pokemon, but a mmo with a full 3d environment, time passage <(day/night- which is pretty standard for games these days) and gamplay that followed how the shows where based (ie) travel around finding pokemon, making them stronger earning a rep etc, etc, I think would suit it pretty good, its almost as if Pokemon was meant to be a MMO game.
If its done right it could have possibilities.
They could also probably cross console it somehow Wii/PC
It’s a fact at this point that Pokemon is MADE to be an MMO, and I have a hunch that Nintendo is working on it, and has been for years. No way they’d be stupid enough to let it pass by. I’m just waiting 
Ive been meaning to have a thread like this. I was back there in the glory days of all 151. Yes i do know some pokeraps still also. Yes MMO fantasy for me would to be POkemon. Im stuck on WoW now so itd be nice to change it up a bit. God thank you if you made a Pokemon MMo. I remeber our Pokemon Bench at school. Sigh* miss those days. Recently got Diamond for DS and the little kids actually ****ing call me a loser for playing it >.> IM LIKE dude your the ***s who dont have it so suck it. This is all incorrect. For one, you’re saying Dragon Ball Z’s target audience was the same as Pokemon’s. It’s not likely. The ratings show that Dragon Ball, in America, and in Japan, attracted viewers who were roughly 14-17 years of age, and that was only the largest percentile… Pokemon, however’s, highest agegroup of viewers was around 5-11–you can read this on the net. Just do some research.
So you can’t really say they both targetted the same agegroup. Like I said, it’s like comparing Blue’s Clues to Gundam Wing. Either way of course, Mountain Guy, they both reeled in a large sum of money due to the children. Of course no one’s going to deny that.

Frankly I’m tired of hypocrites.
Vegeta, we don’t care. Pokemon might be a tad kiddy, but the Pokemon series have always been a solid rpg experience. It might hvae had a storyline for young children. To a true RPG gamer, Pokemon is nothing less than a very strong and unique RPG. And combining that with MMO could prove to be a very good game, if it is done right. At least it would be a unique MMORPG instead of just another point 'n click game or a rip of World of Warcrack.
Huh..Actually, if you take the show and Pickachu out of the picture, Pokemon doesn’t seem that kiddy.
also who here cares about the show at all? who here has watched the show in the past like 5 years? i agree 100% the show is pretty kiddy, good thing we are talking about the game not the show(not that theres anything wrong with watching the show).
Nah, I’ve got to say. You grow out of the show quickly, but I’ll be 50 and if it isn’t here I’ll still be waiting for the Pokemon MMO.

I did look this up, however I ran into so many statistics that contradicted one another that I decided to leave it as “roughly”.
I also should have made myself clearer, I wasnt talking exclusively about the anime (I for one find it boring) Pokemon is a franchise and it’s the addictive RPGs that give it it’s broad appeal.
You can’t state Dbz and Pokemon are polar opposites, when they both follow the same typical shonen formula, one may be more mature in execution, but its obvious why the fan bases of both franchises consist of similar ages.
They may be different in terms of content, but Pokemon didnt become the second largest largest and most lucrative videogame based franchise in the world because it only appeals to five year olds.
If I went up in front of one of my classes and started talking about either Pokemon or Dragonball Z, they would tell me to act my age for either one =P.
