When 1.3 comes out we definately need to have a “best animated sequence” contest.

can anyone say “forum competition IV”?
would be a nice idea for a forum competition…a good one as well since everyone will be able to do this. (with other competitions you needed to have expensive programs such as photoshop ;))

mmm, did i get this right.. after or before release of 1.3? just thinging that if they would release that fx cinema thing or whatever before 1.3 so ppl can make some vids for tehh forum competition 4 and gain acces to tehh ultimate üb3r ph33r force pit dreams of force pit and falls of tehh chair

After the 1.3 release of course, theres no way that Pcjoe’s fx script will be released before 1.3 does.
Hey guys, thanks for all the replies
Before I reply to any individual posts, here’s a post I made on May 25th in the force pit (yeah, they had this video for a month, we planned to give it to you guys sooner >_>).
Some general info that will answer a few of your posts… All of the animations used in the video are in fact regular ESF animations, as in I did not have darktooth make me custom animations. The mouth moving awkwardly is probably caused by interpolating between different animations. The mouth movement is done arbitrarily through the animation, not dynamically through the code. Yes, Darktooth has way too much free time
We did not implement any type of ragdoll, that’s just krillin playing his roll animation and moving along a preset path to give the illusion of ragdoll.
That dust wave isn’t a new effect, it’s created through the FX system. God Gundam made me a small cylinder wrl model which kama skinned (simple brown dust sprite), and through the script I placed, expanded, and faded out the ring. Unfortunetly, I didn’t have enough time to implement the particle system for that video. In the future expect full access to the particle system including slow motion particle effects and custom emittion styles.
Keep in mind none of these features relate to 1.3’s gameplay, all the video does is show you the capabilities of the FX script system, it’s 100% scripted. I guess you can take this in a positive way since you can create custom battles and not be limited to ESF’s gameplay mechanics.
Last but least, the fx script system wont be used by the team for making battle scenes in 1.3 (although you certainly can, I like the idea of a forum comp using the fx script system). I created a battle scene to show the power and flexibility of the system, but it will generally be used for transformation, map, melee, and other random effects.
Damn straight, just as long as I have an excuse to use the naruto OSTs
I couldn’t have said it better myself, thanks
They’re all taken from his in-game melee animations, nothing special.
They dont need any special modifications/additions at all. Actually, you can use any mdl/wrl file, spawn it in a script, and use it. In that clip there’s only one player on the server (myself), and my player isn’t even in the scripted sequence.
I havn’t used Garry’s Mod recently, but from what I’ve seen no, it’s nothing like it. If anything, you can relate this more to flash then you can with Garry’s Mod.
Oh, I almost forgot.. Everything is 100% in-game, including the mp3s in the background. The FX script system also allows you to play two music streams simotaniously so you can fade in/fade out to different tracks.
If you guys have any other questions feel free to ask.
O_O Has the biggest orgasm of his life then dies :tired:
Joe… I love you so much… Can I have your baby?
Ok about the Comp. Forum… Maybe they could have a team one… Like you and however many people you want could create a scene or something like that. OMG  What if the Comp was to make a scene for ESF. Like people could download a movie to watch ESF in action like with cool scene’s and such.
yo joe.. u got plans to make more of thous videos? or have u done some already, but u guys aint going to release them to tehh public.. only for üb3r force pit ppl ehh?
i like the idea of customizing our own transformations.. but they’re so many transformations to do with each model >_> will the esf team be making each cinematic transformation, or will it be like the current one, and you have the decision to customize it yourself? i personally would like to see how the team would want the transformations to look like in 1.3 than for us to make our own =) hope its not a lot of work, well it probably is a lot of work.. it’s not that i don’t want to make my own, im going to play around with this a lot… just curious on what the team is planning to do

Those dev screenshots are giving me a headache. With so many, buttons to click from, path 1, path 2, path 3. If I am to make a cinematic with that fx script, it is going to be like playing a whole new game and learning how to work with that and I bet that the learning curve for beginners using that program is going to be like 10 hours inorder to understand exactly what does all those red, blue lines and arrows mean.

Does that mean we can use a custom made 1.3 Broly model and make a cinematic scene? Thats cool.

Actually, what you just saw was a beta version of the script. The one that will be released will be much easier to use, as we want everyone to participate in it.
