Pfft no I wont skin it, its the communitys problem, they can sort it out. I offered to help Idane with his Tien when he is skinning but, I refuse to do a skin from scratch. One of you has to do the bulk of it.

So I would suppose you were the “leader” of the contest then? Well ok I suppose I do somewhat blame you, not saying it’s entirely your fault. Like I said the rules and guidelines could have been better. Also I never said there should be a seperate modeling and skinning contest. If you would look I said “model / skin”.
Once again i’m not entirely blaming you, perhaps the participants were lazy, but there are usually ways to make things work smoother. Feel free to get defensive again if you must / warn me if you feel it necessary…its all good.
Why would somone warn you for stating an opinion? Anyway, A tien will be complete as far as modeling and skinning. Everyone here is complaining, I’ve already contact Idane about skinning his Tien, and will help him do so as much as I can. I suggest anyone who can do anything pull together to make a Tien we can all be proud of.

If you want that done you probably shouldn’t use Idane’s :rolleyes:
instead of trying to blame someone for faults, why don’t we try to see what the problems were and try to fix them? from the competition what i saw was done:
- community wanting a tien - only a few in the community could produce this, since a lot of us cannot model nor skin to “esf team” level
- those who were able to started and posted in the sections.
- some models were fully modeled, while some were either lazy or uninspired to finish the model. this could be due many reasons, such as the rules of having the poly limit under 1400, where as many of the modelers probably gave up, because they didn’t want to start over after all those hours put into their “high poly” models.
- models that were sent off the skinners were most likely put on hold, or not started due to other factors. one example is raven blade joining the team and had other duties to fulfill.
- due to the less updates of entries, the community probably didn’t participate in the thread any longer. sonic tried to pull it up with thread bumps, but i guess the hype wasn’t there anymore.’
- even teammembers said they would help out. darktooth even offered to animated tien =O
Now how can we solve this problem? How can we get tien ingame, to be apart of the ESF squad? Let’s see what we have been doing:
- People are still whining there’s no tien.
- Old modelers, skinners, other people start arguing and blaming each other for whose fault it is.
- Old modelers and skinners are willing to help out, there just has to be “someone” to do the work (but who would that be?)
- Some people are still willing to do sounds, sprites, etc.
Has of this solve our problem of making a tien model ingame? Will arguing amongst each other solve this? From those four points I made, a few of them are actually in the right direction. But *****ing and complaining about whose fault it is won’t put us in the right direction. There has to be the FEW out there to take charge and take the step, to take that INITIATIVE to say, “I want tien in game.” Now we all know tien would be great ingame. But to reach our goal, we need steps to reach there.
WHAT ARE NEEDED
- A fully modeled tien under 1400 polies, skinned, animated to ESF levels.
- sounds, sprites
How can we achieve that?
a. more of the community to come up with more models that can be entered. much props to idane who i saw started a tien thread, looks pretty good
b. past modelers who are willing to put more time to make another model for the sake of him being in game.
c. those who already made a model, tweak it to reach criteria.
d. more good skinners have to come from the community.
e. skinners have to take initiative to be willing to put in the work. it’s going to be hard work, thus we need those who are WILLING to skinmap and everything. what will be the reward to that hard work? tien ingame damnit! hehe
f. animators who are willing to animate. there are very few in this community from what i’ve seen who can animated really nice. so those few will have to step up. maybe darktooth will help out still
g. stop whining, blaming, *****ing, etc. If we really want this we have to work together. those who are capable, why don’t we collaborate and work as one? those who can model, bust out with models. those who can skin, help each other out to skin it.
IMO, all our attitudes have to shift from this mode of everyone is against me, or blaming everyone for the flaws. There is still time, and those who are capable to stop wasting time, so that we can achieve a tien. dont u want a tien in game? more characters, more fun. heck im going to try to help out in whatever way i can. but stop complaining everyone, lets all get to work. learn from our past mistakes, and lets move forward

Lol, funny guy. Stop being so mean =P!. You could of skinned your Tien Eclipse, you a perfectly capable skinner yourself. I’d rather have a motivated team member who can produce so-so work, than a bone idle member who can produce great stuff (when he wants to). Atleast he is doing something about the fact “there is no tien”.

There are tons of tiens, nuttzy’s, cj’s, mine, and more but there just aren’t any skinned ones ;).

thats what im talkin about ravendust. Those who can do something do something. Get every part ready. as long as each part is preparing that’s good. If you do get together the sound pack and finish, one less thing to worry about for tien. Maybe starting the contest over, a new thread and everything. Maybe it can become part of the official competition in ESF, forum competition 3. Forget about the past, and redo it. maybe those modelers who participated before will come back. and the skinners will come up with skins this time.
