Now that Advanced Melee is officially out of the bag, it's time to show you guys our overviews. In this thread, we will go over our concepts and eventually, reveal our full docs. We are going to do something that has never been done before, we're giving you, the community a chance to make suggestions and help improve our new melee system. And trust me, we will look into your suggestions. The team will edit this post when it's time to show another concept. To make it less confusing, we will post a reply whenever something is added. For those confused, Simple Melee will still be in the game.

Proposal
Create a two prong approach to advanced melee. The first prong is extending simple melee by adding attacks/throws to Mouse 1, Mouse 2, and Mouse 1+2. The second prong is to introduce a framework that will allow complex/special moves to be executed from a single button.

Special Attack Meter - SAM
As players use melee, beams, power-struggles, and block-struggles they will earn bonus points. The bonus points are visually represented by a bonus bar as part of the HUD. The bonus bar will have three tiers. Each tier represents a different attack powerup or player powerup. Once a player reaches a tier they will be able to apply the powerup to either a melee attack or an energy attack. Powerups will cater to each player group (melee vs beam).

Three Types of Melee
There are three different types of melee. Basic, throw, and combo. Basic Melee is just a different name for Simple Melee. Throwing will work just like it did in 1.2. To initialize the throwing sequence, hold mouse 1 and 2. Combo melee performs short, quick combos against your opponent, rewarding you with more points for specials but doing less damage than other attacks. All of these attacks are initiated by swooping into the enemy while holding down different mouse buttons.

Grab and Smash
Grab and Smash is a both defensive and offensive attack. The Grab is initiated by charging the swoop, swooping into your opponent, and holding both Mouse 1 and 2. Once the opponent is grabbed, he or she is now under the attacker's control. The opponent can be dragged into a wall, or can be dragged on the ground to do extra damage.

To initiate the Smash, the victim must be grabbed and must be holding Mouse 1. Smash is a defensive attack that will repeatedly punch the opponent while the victim is being dragged in the sky or on the ground until he or she is let go of.
