    ESF Beta 1 came out well after HL 1.0.1.0. However, I would imagine that is a HL problem rather than a bug in the ESF code.

    That's because it doesn't blow up. I believe it's meant to dissapate if fired under water. Electricty/energy (whatever name you want to give it) doesn't manifest very well when created underwater.

    That is very possible. After much digging through the SDK, it seems that damage isn't handled by a function in the SDK, but rather is something handled by the engine. This helps prove your theory of the problem. I still don't think it's a bug in the engine, but rather one in the ESF code.
