You need to find some profile/three quarters shots of him o base your model on as well. He matches up with the refs from the front and the side, but you have almost no structure when you look at it in 3d space.

For either Poly or Mesh type objects, you need to use attach, group them all together, and then weld, to merge the vertices into a single object.
