I thought of something similar a while ago, but didnt think anyone would like it. Its a great idea. If it was my decision I would just drop advanced melee and implement this. Basically, this takes the gameplay of basic melee and adds another tier.

I was there, and yea, i tried all the video modes.

I dont believe its in the options but it doesnt make a difference anyway. If you want to switch your character you can wait until your dead and then do it, it wont kill you that way, otherwise you still have the option to do it at any time at the expense of one frag.
