firewall or what?

i didint find any thread or help at this..
so i get timeout from many server and i dont know why..
i got router and firewall but at other games those work just fine..
and well i got other question too when i play ESF i get pretty nasty lag. sometimes ping raise to 500 and i cant do anything.. what i can do to pervent those? is that my firewall or router or just something else maybe need patch?

Massive edit: so my esf crash usually ingame i got new drivers and good 3dcard
and i got at many servers 50 ping but then ingame it raise to ~500 and its not playable.. when i try make my own server my friend cant connect and and and.. i cant join at those evolution X server always comes timeout even when i got sv_timeout 305. when i find server where i can play its unique or rare thing but they r almost all earth special forces servers so host shut down it always when i start own too long -.-

i have download esf 1.2.3 evm 2.0 and patch 2.1 and ESF World Modelpack

i would like get some help what i can do and why my esf do that.
other hl mods work just fine... "only the best mod fight vs me :'("
