Alright, this has been pissing me off.

I keep getting my ass handed to me in any sort of fight, even though I seem to be hitting my opponent as much as they are me. I found out why I don't seem to do **** to them: I can't double-hit with basic melee. This is a problem since I've noticed hte second hit tends to do the most damage.

I do one of two things..

1) Dash at them. I rarely actually hit htem when this happens. Usually I don't get there fast enoguh.

2) Teleport at them. When this happens, usually it teleports me in a slightly different direction.

What the hell? How the hell does everyone manage to double-hit so damn easily?

Because it IS so damn easy =D

It really is once you get the hang of it. You swoop at them while holding right click, then have your cursor on them and teleport while still holding right click. You should teleport in that direction...And even if you don't, you will still go the distance, just keep the cursor on him.

As for swooping, it depends how fast the character is. For me, it's a little ahrder to do it with gohan but a snap with Goku. Once the "basic melee animation" begins, do the double tap swoop again while holding basic melee. Chances are, you'll hit him and if not, practice this as a Super Saiyan.

I usually play as Gohan...even if I swoop right as I hit them, then I still can't get them in time.

With the teleporting...are you saying I should start swooping at them, then teleport at them?

AHH NO WONDER,
You usually play with Gohan thats the problem.Gohan has one of the slowest speeds in the game in his "Normal Form".Therefore it is hard to get that 2nd hit if you don't react quickly.Using a character besides Piccolo,Frieza,Krillen,Trunks and Gohan can guarantee you a better chance at getting that double hit.
Also, teleporting will guarantee you a successful 2nd hit if you teleport in the right direction.

Ps-I Use Vegeta.

Well Gohan, Trunks, Piccolo and Krillin have the same speed. With them if you want to get a second hit using swoop you have to start the swoop as soon you you hit them. The problem with teleporting is that it teleports into the direction you were last heding. So if your direction moved sideways a bit when you hit the guy youll teleport to the side.

All in all once you get the hang of it youll notice that its to easy. I personaly like to fool round and make the second hit throw them back in the direction where they came from. Realy fun doing that (harder to)

I personally prefer using Teleport for the 2nd hit. It costs a bit more ki, but I find that I can more accurately hit my opponent with it. Plus I think it's cooler. :p

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA bad bad boy XD

In any case. Even if its against pros i try to hit them in the direction they came from on the second hit. If i dont play round like that it gets dull -.-

Same thing over and over it gets anoying. Thats why i play round like that if im wining or loosing. Doesnt matter ^^

Woah..

Gohan seems a bit weak to me, then...slow speed, nothing really unique..only thing he really has going for him is the shield and early transform time. I may return to Freiza...

But this is not a balance discussion thread, so I'll quit my *****ing.

Thanks :D.

It doesnt depend on teh character speed as much as it does on the skills.

Heck i know some people who own as much with Trunks as others do with Cell.

Hmmmm, they'll usually start with their favourite character. Then they'll notice the attacks available. Then they'll notice the power lvls needed to transform :D .From there they probably pick Gohan and Trunks. As they get better and better they'll tend to use Goku and Vegeta
[Well thats what the people in Australia Do :D ] Noobs they are

Or they can just look at their stats and pick buu. Ah, yes, the one character in this game that is truly broken. Very high hp, very high pl, very high speed, and recovers remarkably quickly.

If you're trying to learn the game, stick with Goku/Vegeta/Cell for now. Once you've gotten the basics down, you can play as whomever you'd like. If you want to continue using Gohan, turn turbo on and voila! You can now double hit with ease (amazingly enough).

I'd stick with swooping for the second hit for several reasons:

1) Its accurate
2) Its pretty much a guaranteed hit unless you stall
3) You're able to aim where you're going to hit the person i.e. at an angle towards the ground/ceiling/walls, setting your opponent up for an additional hit and/or ki blasts and gen beam.

Gohan has 2 things going for him. One is his early trans PL. Second is his speed after he transforms, which is higher than trunks.

However, as a Frieza player by nature, I can tell you right now that Frieza is too advanced for someone who can't even double-hit properly. Frieza is slow and his transformation doesn't give him a lot of PL. The good points are that he has some of the most powerful attacks in the game (laser, when used the right way, can and will obliterate people in one fell swoop, and deathball is practically a Spirit Bomb that's safer and faster to use) and he also has the 2nd highest HP. Once you learn to do your double-hits and can melee on a pretty decent level, then go back to frieza. A good beginning character to always start with is goku. I suggest using him for a while first, then Gohan, then frieza.

? How will turbo increase your speed? I didn't think it affected swoop speed.

I am a semi-noob. I've been around, I am OKAY at the game...I am actually a decent/average player now that I got double-hitting down...I do a swoop + teleport.

I used to be able to doublehit...then I stopped being able to. Now I can again. Swoop + tele ftw.

I will stick with Gohan. I love Masenko too much to give it up :p

Unfortunately Masenko/Powerbeam isn't really that special. More of a gimmick move. You're safer turning on turbo and throwing a couple of gen beams rather than being a sitting duck trying to charge a beam thats as strong as the 2 gen beams you could have used.

As for the turbo, it doesn't give you a speed boost (if it does, it's so small that I haven't noticed). I do think it does make your attack-box range bigger though. Not 100% sure on that, but I tend to hit more often with turbo than not.

The hitboxes are moved slightly forwards or something when turbo is on.
