After a long discussion within the chat box regarding plugins, what is not needed, etc.. I've decided to create a thread of what has to be changed around the forums to make it more enjoyable for all of you. Thus, I'd like to hear all your opinions and suggestions.

Please keep in mind that I'll consider them, so that doesn't mean I'm going to accept things like "Remove all the rules" or "Remove all the mods/admins", etc. Honestly, I'd like the forums to be more active, so I'm wanting to hear from you guys some opinions to change the forums, to make it better for all of you guys.

Honestly, in my opinion the rules need to be less strict, as I'm sure many of us can agree. Arcade should be removed. Not sure if anybody even uses that. Like I told you on AIM, perhaps we can have a "flaming" or more of a mature section.

Edit: I saw that you changed the announcement. The announcement add on is quite useful, in my opinion.

Edit 2: I don't like how the plugin changes blocks automatically.

Only happens when you don't do anything.

I'd like to see more use of credits, but besides that, I do not see any glaring issues.

Curious, Damaera, what do you mean by a "flaming"/"mature" section?

Although adding and taking away plugins can get pretty annoying, it's not that bad.
What I don't like, however is the half implementation of the black skin. I know it's somewhat beta and stuff, and I'm glad it was added after all these months.
But if you keep adding things, somehow make sure that black users (bad pun, I know) can use them too.
If I hadn't read announcement plugin somewhere, I'd wouldn't know it was there.

I've been telling you this for a while, but add beta testers to the memberlist.

No one likes a nazi forum, but I don't think it's been bad as of late.

Oh, and make me Supreme Admin.

Credits, how come?
I just feel they should have more "value" than post amount, like being applicable for something. Like maybe being able to "purchase" new smilies, fonts, forum sections, and other goodies.

Like, is it possible to change the font our username is when we post? Like how mine is green because I am a forcepit member, but would you be able to change the font of that name? Because that could be something many would probably "buy".

Just an idea though. I just want to see more uses for the credits (to be honest, I do not know all of the current uses either).

What I think is change the stickies. They're all bolded and green, and it's hard to tell if there's a new post :/

I agree the rules should be "less strict" I don't believe anyone should be punished for using sarcasm. Or, for that matter, be punished for not agreeing with someone, or disobeying a request. "Getting into trouble" because Person A told Person B to look at something and Person B says no and gets into trouble for it is ridiculous.

Also if Person A doesn't agree with Person B they shouldn't be reprimanded for it.

I also found the green-labeled stickies to be a bit bizarre. I think that the addition of the divider between stickies and regular threads was enough to distinguish the two easily.

Also, and I don't mean to sound callous or arrogant, but the rules aren't going to be adjusted in light of this thread. If you have problems with their enforcement ("favoritism", for example), then you're always welcomed to take it up with any of the staffers you're willing to approach. Otherwise, I don't really see a logical reason to rescind rules that guarantee at least some respect for every user (excluding the rules about porn and sig size restrictions, the AUP, pretty much, just talks about disrespectful conduct; political and religious discussions are, quite obviously, allowed, and, compared to years past, I'd hardly say we're "cracking down on 'spam'" like we used to).

...that turned out to be a longer after-thought than I had intended.

EDIT- For instance, I have no idea what Eminence is talking about. Nowhere in the AUP does it say "using sarcasm will warrant disciplinary action". What it does say - and I feel like I'm explaining this for the twentieth time - is that you CANNOT use sarcasm as a method of disrespecting people (ie: disguising a flame in sarcastic "humor", with an obvious intent to attack a person; we're not mentally inept - we know the difference between playful sarcasm and caustic remarks). I also have no idea what the Person A and Person B example is supposed to be about. I don't see anything like that covered in the AUP or any other informal guidelines.

What happens when someone is insulted in front of an admin and nothing happens?

Ah maj but you see, you're forgetting one minor detail, there's those little unwritten rules that aren't mentioned in the AUP that users have to follow.

You don't understand what I'm talking about because I'm crazy.

Ohh, here's an awesome suggestion: Change my name to Majin_Me pwa-leeeeze! :D

I dont want to break the ice here, but would'nt it be better to focus on the main webpage instead of the forum? I don't know....for what I understand a forum is a forum nothing else, this is a forum and has all characteristics of it, what does it need more? Dont get me wrong, this is my opinion.

A forum is a forum, yes. But on a website, you can't create threads, post replies, talk to each other, etc. I want everyone here to enjoy them self around here, so I'll take every advice and reconsider them.

As for the credit system. I'm not sure, I've disabled it at the moment, but integrating it in like buying smilies and changing fonts. I don't know. Changing fonts is a bit bad as currently all usergroups has its own color.

The arcade system. I guess it is a bit dead because no one knows it is there, and or people want more games to be added. That can be arranged. I shall put the Aracde system within the announcement block so we'll see. From now on, all plugins that are publicly being added will be discussed with the public.

And the rules & Majin's reply. We might need to adjust the rules a little bit Majin, as a few seems to be misunderstanding them. I want people to enjoy them self on the forums, not to be harassed by the forum AUP. So, people. If you see a rule that is "going to far", please just copy /paste the part of the rules ( http://forum.esforces.com/misc.php?do=cfrules ) and show it to me and tell what you dislike about it and what needs to be changed in your opinion. I'll look in to it, and possible may change it if reasonable.

As for the Announcement block. I've changed it so it won't change blocks anymore every 5 seconds. Plus, I added a new block for you guys so everyone will know about the arcade system. And maybe even more games will be added, so people can beat each other in highscores.

If you want to reword them because they are unclear, that's fine. If you're allowing for the petitioning of removal for certain rules, I'll have no part of it. Unless there are glaring errors in the AUP (like I alluded to earlier, things about political and religious discussions should be edited or removed if they haven't already), then I don't see how the rules are going to make things "more fun" without that fun being at the expense of someone else.

Ah maj but you see, you're forgetting one minor detail, there's those little unwritten rules that aren't mentioned in the AUP that users have to follow.
If that happens, then pull the wool out from in front of the admin's eyes, or just tell someone else on the staff. I'd hate to say it, but admins are also susceptible to tl;dr syndrome, and we might just miss something that we would have, otherwise, acted on.

As for the usage of little unwritten rules against you, the only thing I can recommend is that you bring the occasion to the attention of someone in the administration; unless it's something rather extreme, we probably won't try desperately to hold it against you. At the very least, we can add to the AUP in a manner that either documents important unwritten rules (ones that we either forgot or didn't think necessary) or dismisses ridiculous ones. You can't expect us to be aware of absolutely everything that goes on, so we need your help in this matter, too.
