Your first ESF?

Hey all, I'm curious about the ESF community and when they first found ESF

My first ESF was 1.1 . That crazy lock system, I could never get it to work . I saw ESF as a part of some gaming magazine's stuff CD. I noticed it was DBZ based but I didn't have HL at the time. About a month later my dad brought HL home. My first response was "Hey, I saw a DBZ mod for HL in a magazine. I'll go find it!"

I then spent the next week or so just toying with it in the mornings before school. After that I realized you could go online. At first I thought the bots were people due to their random chatter ^^.

Anyone else with their ESF stories?

Ah the good old days, back when everything was so awesome and I was carefree.

2.0 i think :| Maybe earlier, not quite sure.

1.2.x, played it in a cyber cafe many years ago, almost fell in love for the game when played first time.

Found it shortly after 1.0 got out. Played only against my friend over LAN till 1.1.

Thats when i found the bots and got an intzernet connection. (33Kb and later 56kb)

After that i got DSL right after 1.2.3 came out.

I still remember beeing stuck in Ricks server trying to search for a reason why 1.2.1 was crashing all the time XD

Played the alphas, didn't really get into ESF until the 1.0-1.1 days

The first time I played ESF, it was the 1.2.3b version.

Same here.

I started at either 1.9a or the version prior to that. I started playing a lot more heavily once 2.0a came out, stayed relatively active when 1.0b came out, and started to realize I was terrible at the game not long before 1.1b was released.

I think I played Alpha 2.0 along with DMZ... I don't remember *cough*

1.2.3 for me.

I started with 1.1 shorty after i saw that 1.2 was relesh , had a hard time with the bots.

Well, as the original creator of ESF, I've been around since the very beginning. I lost a bet and had to gave the project away, though. A shame, really. Tried 1.0, couldn't do much, really started playing during 1.1.

I think I started with Alpha 2.0, but I enjoyed playing DMZ more at the time.

My mates were on the net and found Alpha 2.0, and i was hooked from just watching. My first ESF though was 1.1, and ive been an addict since.
I was hooked into customizing it, learning a chunk of everything (modelling, skinning, spriting, 3d animation) and really helped me in game design.
