Downloaded esf before half life

i downloaded esf before i got half life and now that i have it i dont know how to run esf on it i also have the steam one. it asks me what i want to run esf with but half life dosent pop up on the list. even when i browse through my programs

You need to have Half-Life installed before installing ESF.

Before installing ESF, make sure that you have run Half-Life and played in a server at least once.

ok but everytime i try to play on a server on half life i press connect and it just like flickers

Is it a legal copy?

Just start a new game then, or have you tried re-starting steam?

Try reinstalling Steam, Half-Life and ESF altogether, then installing one by one again.

Also, did you follow this guide while installing?

You don't need to join a server, you just need to run it then close it.
