ESF 1.3 issue

Been having this problem:

While trying to play the game, 1.2.3 runs well but I want to try the open beta also.
Any idea what to do?

download and buy or active half life. then install 1.3

1.3 has no suport for not beeing used with STEAM. Some of the advanced functions ussed in the code are a STEAM only thing. So if you want to play 1.3 youll need STEAM.

I understand, thank for the answers but anyway, for some reason, my friend can play it without STEAM.
Going back to 1.2.3 since I cant afford these softwares, thanks again.

HL is 9 bucks from STEAM.

Can I play the game on steam offline? I don't have the internet but I love to play the previous verson on a lan game with bots I really want to be able to play 1.3 the same way. Is there a way to do that with steam? or do they have plans to let us do that in the future?

Steam does have an offline mode you can use.

Ok thank you I'll download it and try to figure it out.

If ever you want to play online, I've seen the game for $9 in stores (provided it's in stock) if that's more convenient for u than buying it online.
