The forum we are running is corrupted. The last backup is from around the time when we moved servers and it would take weeks worth of work to try and merge any new posts with the older backup version of the forum. So we are really left with two options.

Which option would you prefer to happen?

I don't think anything particularly important happened within the past month or so, I wouldn't mind loosing the posts if it means making your lives easier. If you go with that route, though, give us proper notice before going to the backup, so that we we can save anything we want to repost (suggestions and the like).

Isn't the backup itself corrupted too? Then what's the point of reverting to something that'll eventually break again?

If this isn't the case, then I said nothing.

Forum backup would be nice, but still.. Which version to put up though? MySQL or PostreSQL? (Which was the original)

Thinking about it, would it be possible to save the posts of only one section (like, would it be a lot less work)? If so, I'd kind of like the suggestion forum to be saved.

Would cost extra space though.. But, it the forum (database) could be archive with the folder name esforce.com/forum2/ or /forumarchive (for example).

Out of curiosity, how much space is the forum actually taking up?

I think we should just start a new forum.
And make this forum an archive(view only) so we can still view the old posts.

If we start fresh, then people who've been banned will be unbanned won't they? Not good. Not good at all.

Anyone who was banned long ago could have easily created another account by now without ever being noticed. The mod team doesn't generally check IPs unless I'm banned and they suspect the newcomer is me, or if the person is causing a ruckus. Starting fresh really wouldn't give people opportunities that they didn't already have.

Myees, but then we wouldn't be starting fresh. We'd be starting with an old ban-list.

We'd be starting fresh since all of the content, both old and new, would be purged. If you're willing to leave the ban list free of all those dastardly name-lovers, even better. Pain banned 400,000 people within his first week of having power, so we might see an influx of people. We probably won't, but there's always the possibility. It won't hurt to give it a shot.

Start with a new forum. The only thing is, what is going to happen to the Force Pit members? I know not much has been posted recently, but I'm just wondering what would happen with that section.

I think it should be turned into an open forum. Keep the same rules (party hard?) as it has now, but let more people take part in it.
