i have downloaded ESF open beta and i extracted it to c:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\halif-life\username\esf but.....it still didnt work am i extracting it wrong or am i doing something else wrong i need help.

You extract it to just the half life folder, not esf

you do not copy over your current esf folder, you make a new one for example this one will be

"Halflife\esf_openbeta"

You use win zip to open the.zip, then you say extract to...hlalf-life folder, when you do that, an open beta folder should automatically appear there, make sure you restart steam if its on.

I have the same problom.I put it right where everyone told me to and restarted steam,but it still does not work.

run hl once first then go to where you steam it's installed , your account name , half-life and you sould see some files where's hl.exe paste it there restart steam and it will work

Shouldnt that be:

c:\program files\valve\steam\username\steamapps\halif-life\\esf
or something?

It's "Steam\Steamapps\username\half-life"

OK it's like this: close Steam, delete everything in your ESF folder, extract the esf_openbeta.zip anywhere and copy the contents to the ESF folder (by contents I mean what's inside the esf_openbeta folder). Then just run your ESF shortcut. Works...

Actualy that can make conflicts. All the program paths are set to esf_openbeta and not esf.

So just put the whole open beta foulder into your HL directory.

1 more time, YOU USE Winzip TO extract the files into the HALF-LIFE folder.

When you do so, the folder is automatically created, and it doesn't replace 1.2.3, and restart steam.:talk:
