Half-Life best edition?? As long as its Half-Life 1 it'll work.I'm pretty sure Half-Life Best Sellers Edition will work.Its probably Half-Life with something on it saying that its a "Best Seller"

But just as a clairfication, you will still need to install steam to play with other players. Just buy the game and register the CD key with your steam account. Either way, as long as you have HL1 and only HL1(no matter which edition of half-life it is) you will be fine.
